Ira White: After traveling a long road, I'm back at FanStory. My father had dementia and I took a leave of absence to help care for him. Our family did not want him to die alone in an institution, so we took care of him. Being the executor of his will and responsible for his finances and medical decisions, I had my work cut out for me. Fortunately, I also had a family that pitched in so the weight would not fall on any one of us. Dad died last August and this last year, I published my novel, "We Won't Forget You, Mr. McGillicuddy," which has a component to it that was drawn from my own life experiences care taking a person with dementia. The main plot of the book has to do with the information society we have and what could happen to a family should that information be used improperly. Currently, I'm working on a poetry book, "A Call for Arms," which seems to be coming along nicely. I'm also retired now and have more time for writing and other things I want to do. |

My own dad was diagnosed as being in the early stages of Alzheimer's in June of 2015. He calls me on the phone and conveys his life story to me, and I am writing his memoirs as we go. There are things I am learning about my dad and some things that he did that I never dreamed possible. I consider it an honor that he has confided in me to accomplish this with him. God bless... -

Ira White: I've been gone for awhile. I have had some illness combined with multiple family duties. In addition I am working, when I have the opportunity, on a large project. I am posting some of it today. |

Ira White: For those of you I have chosen to review, I admit I can be a little tough but be assured it is not from jealousy or just because. I spent a couple of years reading for a paraplegic teacher who taught Jr. High. Yes I barely survived the experience but I did learn a lot about reviewing. That experience added to my English degree will serve you well if you listen. Caveat: I am not always correct. In any case, my only goal in reviewing is to help others be the best they can be. |

ll find a small minority of people here welcome critique openly. Some people resent it. I urge you to stay true to your own integrity of intent. Those who are receptive know it's meant to be helpful not hurtful. You will find some of the site's more serious reviewers are active on the reviewing forum...located under profile tab and the forum listings. -
