My name is Laidy.

I was placed into the foster care system for adoption when I was 3 years old. I was adopted at 5. And I survived...

For many years I lived with a physically and mentally abusive mother. I was then removed and sent to live with my VERY LOVING father.

When I was 14 years old, I was finally placed back into "the system", (foster care). I was in the care of ACS, in NYC. From there, I was set into group homes and foster cares. It was not easy. Being that age, not many families want to adopt you. (Later I found that my mother had not given up my adoption rights, she just never wanted me back so no one else could adopt me even if they had wanted to anyway.) From that age I knew it was going to be hard. I would never have a family to call my own. Why was it me that had to go through so much at such a young age? I felt like no one ever wanted me. Being in the system was hard, but I had been through tougher situations then this already. I aged out, at 18 and did great things for myself. I have a lot to show for it. Staying positive is the best advice I can give to anyone out there that is struggling.

Aside from that I want to open a fund or something big for youth in foster care going through similar situations I was in because of the adults that had no respect for me.

I am now 27, I do Audio Voice Over Narration for Audible.com and have several audiobooks selling on iTunes and Amazon, I am the published author of The Flower You Once Held and several other poetic novels/books, I am currently writing a book called,"Animal Control" and working on "Esiljaha". I have been published by Howard Ely, in several poetic books. I have written many poems on Poetry.com. Published my 1st magazine article, in the magazine "REPRESENT!", at age 15 while in a group home. After I did, I continued to write for them. My goal as a writer/poet is to become the new age Edgar Allen Poe for the Millennium era.

I am an ARMY veteran and currently switching over to become an Air Force Officer.

I earned my license as a Pet Cosmetologist where I attended ITA in Florida and graduated in December 2013.

I am now Graduated with my BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment and my Masters in Public Relations.
