Very nice story, Barb. Going to funerals can be an uncomfortable ordeal. It was for me for many years, but now I read poems about the deceased at these services.

Yet another joy-to-read family story from you. So glad I caught this in time. I can't remember if you have a novel going maybe the story of the lady stuck at the doctor's house with her broken down or smashed vehicle?

I loved this story. It was interesting, very relatable. You're right, about the cleaning. Glad you took the opportunity to pursue your dreams. I'm glad your son was able to connect for a brief time anyway. I'm sure that made the man's day. I wish your son and his wife the best on their kind endeavors. Look forward to reading more.

A great story about young people keeping the elderly company during the day. Such an honorable thing to do. I really enjoyed reading this story Barbara. Great photo too! Keep up the great work!

Barbara,

What a great story. I love the fact that you paired your youth group with the elderly. Some of them have no one else to visit and they get lonely.

I was a caregiver and I absolutely loved it. Spending time with the elderly were great. I felt like I made a difference in their life at the end of the day. They hold a special place in my heart.

Well done

Cecilia

So many of our elderly are forgotten. We need to spend more time with them.

Hello, Barbara, thank you for sharing your life story. Your sons sound like extraordinary men. You must be an excellent mother.

I married an airforce officer but when he was retiring so I didn't get to experience living in the base. But I like to hear the stories.

Well done

What a worthwhile helping others to get from one day to the next, a help and God's assistant in tending others, that was one of the tasks Elaine set heresies when she retired, that of helping young Afghan women with English and adjusting to Australian ways and conditions, beautifully written Barbara

What I got out of this post is how hard it is for us, especially children, to face death for the first time. It really took me back to 1971 when my grandfather died. This was the first time I had to deal with a death of someone in my family, and the realization that people you love won't be here with us forever is a powerful reality check. Showing up at funerals is a tough task, but it is important that children realize that it is a matter of respect for someone and also a support for the family that is left behind. estory

How wonderful that regardless what is going on i your life at the time, you always find ways to reach out and help others and it appears that your love has carried on through your children. You should be so proud.
