Breaks my heart what so many in that culture had to endure. . .but of course I do know many were treated well. And most were treated better than they would have been treated in their homeland. RIP Johnathan, you are now free.

Perhaps true. But some bitterness today comes from the ancestors of slaves. Even the ones well treated.

This was a good read, unknown writer. The piece had a good flow to it and the story itself was fascinating. The ending was especially well written. Good job and good luck in the contest.
