Thank you for doing this here and in real life. I cannot do those things out in the real world anymore, but I do write and talk about it. Everyone can do something. Karen

I also attended a woman's march and your article made me feel like we made a difference. More and more people are standing up for the beliefs that make our country a democracy. I honestly can not believe how we have condoned the firing of hard working people and proved untrustworthy to our allies. Keep marching and writing. gayla

I've been to various rallies myself and I know it takes a lot of guts to stand up for what you believe in. Especially when spectators turn aggressive. I've signed petitions, called politicians, sent them Emails..... Luckily, there're many ways to protest. Whatever you do, do something. The situation won't change by ignoring it. I'm glad that there're many like-minded people out there who have the courage to speak up. Please continue to do so.
Have you ever thought about turning your experiences into a lively, maybe even -action-packed story instead of just recounting them? You may reach more people that way.

Thanks for the kind and thoughtful review. I am more of a documentary-style person rather than an action-packed story kind of person. I appreciate your suggestion, and you may be right about reaching more people that way but I like my style of writing just the same.
I am glad you are making an effort to reach our leaders.
We need people doing all sorts of things to get through to the government we want our democracy back.

Good for you and Connie! Keep going with all the rest of the protests. Our voices have to be loud and continuous and undeterred by all the crazy stuff he does every day to divert our attentions.

Thanks, Marilyn, for your encouragement regarding our voices being heard, we must shout louder than our leader. He tries to divert our attention, when we should be paying close attention, to what he is doing to our democracy.
We must fight the good fight!

I hope it's true, that we can move mountains. I worked the polls and was amazes at the turnout (both early voting and election day voting). And I heard similar reports around the country. Then the reported results showed 15 million fewer votes than projected (with 42 million more registered voters). I'm really afraid that when Trump said first "You don't even need to vote, we have the votes," and then "You'll never have to vote again," that the books are cooked. And voter suppression worked.
thanks for posting.

I think you are right, Wayne. Voter suppression worked in the last election. Many registered voters didn't vote, so they pretty much handed the election to Trump. He is dangerous and petty when it comes to what will happen to all of us who voted against him.

Hi Jesse,

It's an admirable thing to do but I'm not totally convinced about he if you don't speak up you're part of the problem aspect.

The thing is, in my experience, you can't deal with absolutes. It's this or it's that and that's how these kind of things make me feel.

Equal rights is an interesting proposition. Should a murdering child molester have the same / equal rights as a goo, law-abiding and morally just citizen. I know a lot of folk who'd disagree with this one.

It's a an interesting subject.
All the best
G

Yes, I believe all people should have equal rights under the law.
The fact that some would disagree with me is why I protest for equal rights. A fair trial, and a fair jury is due for anyone who has broken the law. Rallies and marches are how we can take back what is great about America!
    Thanks for stopping by.

"Women deserve the same rights as guns." I like that! And, I agree with you, that silence equals compliance. I have spent the last two months writing and leaving voice mails for Congressional leaders (I use that word sarcastically) and Senators. Talk about silence!

Do you mind if I ask what city you live in? So far, I've seen very little about any kind of protest here in North Florida, but I have family in Georgia and will travel north, if need be, to be a part of a protest.

Good for you, Jesse. I hate that we are doing this all over again, having to resist his every action, but this time I feel there is more at stake.

Thanks for posting.

You are right, Pam. More is at stake this time. I live in a small town called Eureka in Northern California. Our state is very active when it comes to protesting for our civil rights. Keep sending letters and voice mails to our leaders. Everything helps. I appreciate you speaking out and going the extra mile for those less fortunate than you. This shows character and integrity.

I think this means you are an activist...and I think that is an honorable thing.
Alone, we are powerless. If we all stand together, we can eventually make a difference in these matters.
I commend you for your effort.
I really enjoyed reading your account of attending a rally.

Thank you for sharing about the International Women's Day rally near your home, Jesse! We had one nearby and two of my friends from different states were able to march in it. We are blessed that we can peacefully protest unlike how in Russia, protesters would be imprisoned or killed. It distresses me so much that our POTUS is such a good friend or maybe puppet of Putin.

Yes, Trump is considered a puppet of Putin. So far, we are not imprisoned or killed for our beliefs, but for how long? We were proud to march in the rally for women's rights. Thanks, Helen, for sharing your thoughts.

I liked the wording of your sign - it is the same as in the bullying situation where people do not stand up for the victim, and remaining silent is compliance. You have every right to stand up for what you believe, although I am sure things may change regarding that freedom soon. I believe the vulnerable will be victimised by this so-called leadership where empathy and compassion and integrity are words not understood.

Hello Wendy. Thank you for reviewing and sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your candor. Let's hope this country will still value the freedom of expression and speech and allow us to protest peacefully.
Your compassion shines through and it is good to see.

I just posted a piece you might want to read, about certain bullying behaviour by a so-called leader! I feel for you all and pray your country will survive this.

Thank you for your prayers for our country. I will check out your post on bullying by our leader. We need to stick together.
