Well Miss Texas, take my words and you hertfelt desire to make a better world and fight for change. With over 300 million Americans in the world, unless you choose to live yor beliefs there are 8 milion Chinese that will eventually become literate and forceful. Lets launch this with understanding and global peace.

A very interesting piece that reminded me a lot of my political science class and how the discussion raged on about the health care system and the changes that are being worked out this very day. People expect so much so fast. I believe that Obama is trying to get it right, it just takes time. I worked on his campaign for many hours and was so proud of America when they elected him. Now the press is turning on him because he cannot get everything straight right away. This mess didn't happen in a day. And, although he's a great president he isn't God and he cannot recreat the world in seven either. I loved your essay, it speaks volumes.

I do believe that he is a great president and doing his best for his country. I especially liked your bold saying "The history books are riddled with tragedies of shameless power focused on personal agendas." It is an absolute truth.
My suggestions on some nits/spags/whatever...
likely remember Kennedy more = likely remember President Kennedy more
surge of emotion. Old bigotries, charred emotions, = emotion or emotions when reading seems reduntant. Used twice in the same para. Perhaps you could change one to something else, like passion or sentiment or something.

I have nothing to add, only a standing ovation for a essay so well presented with facts. This well covers our President's journey as well as his charisma and class. I have never witnessed the outright disrespect and hatred for our leader as I have seen with Obama. It has been an eye-opening and nauseating experience. Although with regret and what I think is fundamental disrespect, I think all the crap that is being thrown at Obama is going to wind up making Americans think. My gut instinct tells me that he will go down in histor as the hinge that opened America's eyes. The world is getting smaller. All decisions, in all countries affect he world.

I have faith that America will get it right. I am not even the slightest bit concerned about the extreme suggestions that this opens the door for euthanasia (what do you think is happening now when people can't afford medical help. Thay die) or otherextreme notions that seem to crop up when major change is suggested. At least America is talking. Thanks for reading.

Niereka, America has evolved and the cynics and hate pundits still want us to believe in conspiracy theories and subliminal plots. I'd rather have a president taking it on the chin, dealing with accussations publically then worry about the back benchers. Do you really belive that GWB ran America? There are leaders and there are puppets. Just keep questioning, keep voting and stay alert.

First, let me thank you for an excellent essay on a topic which is relevant today. I'm an unabashed admirer of Obama. Although I'm not a US citizen, I read and hear all his speeches. This guy holds his audience spell bound. As an Indian I should start to dislike him as he has imposed a border protection law which has cut jobs of Indians in the USA. Now he is hitting at outsourcing, which directly hits us badly. However, I can't dislike him for what he is doing is good for his countrymen. Unfortunately, your country was taken to war in Iraq by Bush and his team, and this had cost you dearly in many ways. Can you believe that the people living below the poverty line in your country has actually risen in the last one year to 14.3%? That means one in every seven is poor. You must accept it was all a legacy of reckless spending and tax cuts by Bush and Co.
Obama's health care was hailed by many as a long awaited reform which was overdue. It will bring succour to many poor. We in the outside world admire him as he is free from scandals and affairs. He is the greatest communicator as seen by foreigners. Today he stands tall among the world leaders.

Ramarao, it might surprise you to know that I am a Canadian. I write carefully so as not to prejudice my opinions by pretending any citizenship, but like you, I have strong opinions. GW Bush was a clown and in my thoughts I believe he was a puppet, not a leader and while engaging at times and pathetic in his blunders, he served special interest groups well. I don't think he personally made any decision.
The beauty of having an intelligent, articulate and charismatic president is that short of attacking him for being black (tsk, tsk....not an accepted practice) or asserting him to be a Muslim (will we ever get to the point that private spiritual beliefs are just that, private) most people don't want to take the time to think or listen.
