What an intimate story, done with such a lot of grace and care. There is a few spags but overall, a wonderful chapter. Here goes...Elizabeth hugged Tyler(,standing at the kitchen door as she) kissed his cheek, [who now stood at the kitchen door] (and) [as she] said, "The bridge must be fixed."
She feels [she] damned
Tyler stood off (to)the side

I like how you put in all the details of the exam. (of course, you have been through it before and all us other women! ) I would think that Rebeka has an extra difficult time because of her discomfort with being at the doctor's office, the exam, and needing to have the security of someone trustworthy like Tyler nearby and yet she's uncomfortable with him because he's a man. Sigh. She's a complicated person!

Yes. Rebeka is very complicated. She will make some progress, the fall backwards again. Thank you for the kind review and understanding.

This is an interesting chapter, and you make the reader feel Rebeka's anxiety and embarrassment as she is treated by the doctor. Her mother's bad luck with babies could be from being sexually used at such a young age. What Rebeka and her mother have lived with is really a form of abuse, they just don't realize it. Religion can be used to keep women in subjugation very like slavery.

A well written chapter. I didn't think it was long. The multiple character interactions and scene changes made it feel like short segments. You did well with showing concern, empathy and compassion between your characters, and for Rebeka and her physical and emotional wellbeing.

Barbara,

This is another great chapter of your book. I am amazed that Rebekah wanted Tyler in the room with her. This story is coming along nicely.

He's the only person she's come to trust, even slightly. Thank you for the kind review.

Not many men experience the embarrassment that women feel in an internal examination. But I went for a cystoscopy at our local hospital last week, it's the male equivalent of the female internal, with female nurses in attendance, but they are marvellously discreet, beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy
Typo : Heat(h)er handed Rebeka a gown.

The poor thing no wonder she's so terrified, never seeing a doctor before coupled with her mother's pregnancy history. I do hope all goes well for her. Your chapter is very well-written, interesting, and as you can tell by my comments, your characters are realistic, relatable. I look forward to reading more.

What a family Rebeka had! Her mother had eight pregnancies and lost all the babies except Rebeka. And not to see a doctor is beyond reason. I know of a family who were Christian Scientists, and I think their beliefs were similar to those of Rebeka's father. Rebeka's father probably feels so self-righteous in his beliefs, but he's really destructive. It'll be interesting when we finally meet him. Dr. Tyler seems to be overly concerned about Rebeka, always warning her to be careful. That's only going to make her more dependent and stressed, I would think. Here I am, offering advice to your characters again. judi

You've pretty much nailed Rebeka's father. We will learn more about as the story continues. Thank you for the kind review.

I very much enjoyed, listening to this. Your descriptive words of the surroundings make it very interesting to me as I listen. I am seeing the scene and the actions of the people in this story. I'm seeing one run up the stairs. I'm seeing others doing various things as well and it's just a very interesting thing to listen to and let my mind wander along with the story. Patricia.

It is clear to see how much Rebeka's past has had an impact on her as an adult. Her character really comes to life here, Barbara and you do an excellent job of bringing her backstory to life on the page. An excellent chapter.
