Terry Broxson: I bought a couple of Christmas presents from the FanStory Store. Two things. The shipping was very fast. And the product was good quality and cool. That's my experience. |

Terry Broxson: My book Santa Claus: The Beginning just received a Silver Award Winner for Novemeber, 2023 by Literary Titan. The Silver Award is bestowed on books that expertly deliver complex characters, intricate worlds, and thought provoking themes. The ease with which the story is told is a reflection of the author?s talent in exercising fluent, powerful, and appropriate language. I think they have this old guy from Texas confused with someone else! |

Terry Broxson: In light of Jay Squires' trouble with a scam, I got this email from the publisher of my Santa book today. I have never heard of this scam. Hello authors! Atmosphere Press here. Just wanted to send out a courtesy note to everyone to watch out for scammers. Sadly, there are many unethical companies in the literary world who deliberately target recently published authors. They often include quite sensational promotional opportunities, such as making you famous at various book festivals (Frankfurt, New York, LA, etc.), featuring you in USA Today or Forbes or on Good Morning America, or by nominating you for "esteemed literary prizes" that may or may not be real. We've also seen scammers promising to magically make authors into New York Times Bestsellers or promising to get their book adapted into film for Hollywood movies or for Netflix. We want to advise you to be very cautious when receiving grandiose offers, as there's a good chance it's a scam. Very sad that this is the world we live in, but it is! Sometimes the scams are very complex and very believable, so you have to have your guard up; you don't have to be gullible to be drawn in by a well-designed crime. Here are some companies and offers we know have run scams or "over-promise, under-deliver" programs, and that should 100% be avoided: Authors Press Author Solutions Green Dot Films Rain Steel Author Reputation Press Atticus Publishing Spotlight Network TV Interview Proposal Angel S. Smith promoting Barnes & Noble opportunities Quipper Prints ...and there are always new ones popping up We're not sure how con artists compile their contact lists, but it is true that once an author has a publication, they are now a public figure and promotional scams will start to come out of the woodwork. Do know that Atmosphere Press will never give out your information. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, so be vigilant, be cautious, and know that you have our support! Best, Atmosphere Press |
