This is exceptional, conjures up a powerful image, yes society certainly is failing. Love tthe clever rhyming, and the aliteration.
A truly deserving winner.
Well done

Lisa,
This cinquin was well deserving of the win. Congrats.
You provide clear images of the sad truth of the riots without the artwork.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Your win with this poem is well deserved. The thirst line sets up the auditory images - both rhyming and alliterative, making the switch to the visual especially striking. Congratulations.

Congratulations on your win!
Well-deserved with this stunning piece that is both powerfully topical and poetically beautiful. Clever use of rhyme, not a feature of traditional cinquain, adds sparkle.
Wow!

I was thinking of entering the Cinquain contest but the Jewish holiday (when I'm not allowed to create anything new, hence not allowed to write) got in the way. Now I'm glad it did, because this is good and I wouldn't want to go up against it. This poem is sadly true - at least in my part of the world - and very well expressed. I like that you used the couple of rhymes even though they weren't required. They added an extra layer to your words. Good luck in the contest.

This cinquain, Crying Time, has the proper formatting and captures the current breakdown in society as BLM, Time's Up, pandemic, economy, and the otherwise divided political culture converge in the streets.

Yeh that is a scary time that would put anyone in tears. The sirens and the rioting going on in our big cities is more than just a shame. The people they are rioting, burning businesses and innocent people being shot for no reason, can't even call for the police because they have been run out. So, no one to call. It really is crying time. It scares me that this can be happening in our own company and not a damn person is taking steps to bring order back. Good job!

With all the yelling in my ears I don't really want to hear, but it is happening everywhere, LisaMay. Everyone wants to be heard. I just wish there was a peaceful solution to this world's probems. This is a good offering to the Cinquain Poetry contest. Thank you for sharing. :)

This is a very dark, alothough at first it may appear that way. But it tells of the future that is coming and that future is leading us into the darkness where we may never make it out.
