"I walked in prayer, slowly, as if I was stepping onto sacrosanct ground. I extended my right hand and touched their names, feeling like an intimate connection with their souls. The imprint of each of their names was different, like they were when they died. That day, I felt connected, and I was able to mourn for each one of them.
Just a thought, in deep reverence, because their silence stills my soul."
Yes, amada, their silent silence had stilled your soul because you were completely empty and thoughtful minded all towards those foreign tombs and crosses, you were one to them. It has happened to me ,too! A beautiful written text!

Sad, so sad, Amada. These numbers are staggering, and when you place the number with faces and families, it's disheartening. Sadly, the number will increase during the fall and winter seasons.

We must pray like we never prayed before. Our faith would help us through the most dimmest year in America's history.

I love the analogy in your story.

I find it staggering.
I watch the numbers everyday,
and here lately, they seemed to
have doubled.
Most people I know aren't taking
it serious anymore.
Did the virus weaken? How will we
know? We are still be careful.
Scary times,
stay well,
Blessings...

Beautifully written! Thank you for calling us to mourn for the nameless 200,000+ who have passed because of this terrible disease. I like your transition from that "cold, frosty number" to the reverence of each living being that was lost.

This is such a moving piece. You have touched upon something that few writers have talked about - the solace that comes when one can reach out and touch those who have died contrasted with the loneliness of our present situation. Well done.

Hello there, Amada

Your essay is written well and has great depth.

It's hard to imagine so many lives wasted in these ghastly wars of ours.

Your description of a football celebration with family and friends and touching the different names of these poor souls, certainly helped put this horror into perspective.

May they rest in peace, indeed.

kind regards

trimple

I find this extraordinarily moving, particularly where you talk about touching the names of the fallen. I have done the same at our own war memorials in Australia. I remain humbled by their sacrifice. Blessings - DJ

This wonderful piece is full of insight and meaning. Too many of us listen to the numbers but don't try to relate in any way. Maybe it's just easier that way.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Yes it is a terrible thing, Amada. So many deaths. Do you think God is a little unhappy with his children? I do. I pray more now than I ever have and I know there are many doing the same. I'm thinking we may be discontented for a long time. Did you read about the brain eating amole in Texas that has killed a six year old boy? Bad news every day. God help us. Well done dear. Have a nice day. Nancy:)

Hi Nancy, We are taking death so lightly these days; especially if we are getting old, who cares if we die, they seem to say. God loves us all, no age, no color, no status. Your comments are lovely, dear lady.

I love your beautiful, sensitive soul and how you move towards suffering with a kind open heart. This very much reminds me of the Buddhist practice of breathing in the world's suffering and breathing out love in return. I think this is what you did - both with the Stadium imagery and the Vietnam Memorial! So moving! Thank you for this!
