Congratulations on the win. You have an artistic eye, I never would have noticed or thought about the calculations that would have been involved in building these structures. Well done.

Thank you! I've been fascinated for a long time with how the ancients managed to build such exquisite architecture.

I like the alliteration in this poeteic and true description of the Parthenon.

Thank you for your comments. I have been to Athens and seen and touched this building. I've been fascinated for a long time with classical architecture.

No problem, Lisa. I have always wanted to tour Europe and see all the religious and pagan sites.

Very classic - lean and high-minded. I like that you pull the mathematical element of the Parthenon into the mix - how the column proportions (allegedly) use the Golden Ratio. Nice alliteration - the poem even looks like a pillar. I can see why this won - congrats!

A celebration of antiquity here and a reminder to us now perhaps as wesoldier on in our modern world with all our achievements and troubles that we quite simply stand on the shoulders of giants- the poem exudes erudition

Thanks for your comments about my poem. As you say, we owe a lot to the ancients for their civilization.

Nicely done, Lisa May. You made a very intelligent comment in only 15 syllables, and did so with an excellent use of alliteration. It brings back nice memories, as my husband and I went to Greece for our 20th anniversary, and our hotel in Athens was within site of the Parthenon.

Thanks for your encouraging comments. I have a soft spot for Greece... been there a couple of times in the seventies, and i also had a Greek boyfriend in Australia for 3 years when i was in my twenties... nearly married him, too, but he hit me, so I ended it immediately.

Good, Lisamay, I'm glad you when with Parthenon pillars. Built long ago and still standing. It reminds me of a court-of-law where you go to and get sentenced to life. We don't have many structures that are hand made cause they keep falling down. :) Good entry for the 15 Syallable Poem contest.

Hello! Thanks for reviewing - I love old buildings; hopefully they won't fall on my head while I'm appreciating them!

A very well-written fifteen syllable poem about the once perfect architecture now only the pillars standing strong to mark the place of its former glory.

You have made excellent use of your fifteen syllables in this descriptive, appealing piece. So much of ancient architecture is truly amazing. Good use of alliteration
