This is as beautiful as any speech that could be given. We must not forget who the real heroes are. Without the police, we would be victims of anarchy. We need to teach our youngsters to respect and admire them. Thanks for writing this. Demolishing reminders of our history is not the way. That's the first step in destroying our culture.

Aww, thank you, Sally. I've been caring for my mother-in-law, and that has kept me tied to her, but after a terrible health crisis (real pneumonia), she's doing much better.
I am working on a novel right now, and will begin posting after doing research. Thanks so much for your response. You encourage me.

Those that braved the fallen brick, the smell of decay, the smell of the dying will always live in the heart of many, Sally. Many that live still suffer when death was close at hand. Yet, they risk their all to help someone. Those are the heroes of today. We will never forget them.

Policemen generally take their job very seriously and protect the public, they are indeed brave and enforcing the law is not an easy task, believe me, I have been in the job myself and you meet some unusually characters!
