A very well-written memory and tribute to the first responder who got your out safely under dangerous circumstances but later it seems he did not make it through the nightmare, but you will never forget what he did that day.

Hello Sal,
What a moving and gripping piece.
I had to scroll back up to the top to check that what i was reading was fiction.Your writing is so earnest that you had me believing you had gone through this traumatic experience first hand.
Excellent writing.
Best wishes as always, Debra x

Dear Debra, thank you so much. I don't think I will ever come to grips with the heroic actions displayed on this day. Such courage and selflessness always compels me to write. I blessed by this and the stars, dear one.

I posted everything I could find on 9/11. Kids not born or too young care nothing about that day, they have no idea. They love hate and violence, it's something to do and seems 'fun' for them. They only know what college professors tell them, mostly lies. Poor kids. So young and so dumb. We live in the greatest country in the world and they want to destroy it. I will never forget that day, so scary, our work stopped and we gathered to pray. So many lives lost. Too much sadness. Great write.

Awesome story, Sal! I almost thought it was true, and I was going to ask you where you actually were on 9/11, until I scrolled to the top and saw "Letter and Diary Fiction" posted there. It's very realistic, and it easily could have been the story of one of those who were rescued from either the Twin Towers or the Pentagon, although so sadly, those who were rescued were so few. I still remember how, in NYC, so many people were ready to donate blood, and then, where were the survivors? For the most part, you either made it out, or you didn't. And so sadly, so many of our first responders didn't. As your story so poignantly states, some are treating our uniformed officers so shabbily today -- it is such a disgrace -- the same people who could step forward and save their lives, at any given moment. Our heroes!

I lived near Niagara Falls, New York after Jackson and I were married. We oftentimes visited NYC. We moved back to Florida in 1984 and we were living here when this happened. I'll never forget it and now somber very the days were after that. I could hardly function or wrap my brain around it. I worked at Barbizon Modeling in Longwood, Fllrida as an instructor and ended up putting together a huge fashion show and fund raiser for 9/11 victims. I modeled as well. We raised thousands of dollars and I couldn't believe how generous everyone was with donations, time and efforts. Many of my students volunteered and brought in kids from their schools to join in and raise money. We were all so blessed to feel like we helped in a small way. Thank you for the marvelous review and gracing me with stars and your beautiful spirit, once again. We'll never forget!!

A beautiful tribute to all those first responders who came to the aid of those in dire need and emergencies. Especially, we remember them on a day like today. Thanks for this poetic tribute, Sal!

This is a fine tribute to the police, firemen, and other first responders who risk their lives to minimize harm to citizens caught in such dreadful calamities -- in this case the twin towers in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Those who either were not yet born or were too young to know what was occurring at the time can only go by old pictures and videos plus whatever they've been told; but no one aware as that day unfolded can forget how the barrage of horrid news and images gripped us throughout that day and the grim days and weeks which followed.

For months, cars belonging to people either working in or visiting the World Trade Center (WTC) towers that day were found abandoned wherever they had been parked.

Before the towers fell, there was a pastor helping people coming out into the street below, as some were suffering from smoke inhalation and had trouble walking. A female jumper came down on him head-first.... (That was NOT a rumor or made-up event. I heard the real-time reporting on it by a thoroughly shaken journalist standing nearby. I'll spare you the gruesome details he mentioned before his station cut to another report.)

For people not connected to anyone who was there, a lot, such as the many abandoned cars, may just be shrugged off as statistics. That real pastor was no statistic, nor was the policeman who helped your story's narrator.

Yes, we must not forget, and we must make sure that younger generations are properly taught enough to understand what such a tragedy really means to humanity. The actual perpetrators were following orders which should never have been given. Until we, the people of this world, ferret out and rid humanity of the incorrigibly evil order-givers who see benefit to themselves in such devastation, similar horror will not end.

Your post is timely and moving, with apt illustration and a video clip reminding us that freedom must be fought for, else lost. Superb.

Thank you for the beautiful and insightful review of my 9/11 tribute. I have watched so many documentaries on this, and never seem to get over it. I will alays be amazed and grateful of these acts of selflessness. May I be like this if called upon.

    You are most welcome, Sal.

Yes, there were so many stories coming out of those days that I eventually lost track of them. One was about the people who survived the collapse because they were at ground level in the concrete stairwell. Another was about a woman who survived and then died in a plane crash just days later.

ALL first responders perform heroic acts time after time, and humbly consider it just part of their job. They certainly deserve our respect and gratitude.

Actually, in a way you are answering such a call in your second book. :)) -- Mike

I see this is fiction but it certainly has the ring of truth. Apt reference to today's turmoil. Heartrending and ultimately uplifting as you vow to remember him. Cheers. LIZ

This is a heart wrenching piece of writing that touched me deeply. How can we forget? Wiping out our history is a great tragedy that cannot be undone.

Always remember when things happen as we see them now, it is purpose for something yet good to come. Sown in corruption, raised incorruptible. From the spirit to the flesh and from the flesh to the spirit. All things work together for the good according to His promises.
My blessings to you.

Hello Sal.

This is exceptionally well done. You include several factors into the story including the recent destruction of history that we've seen in our streets by the Marxists and anarchists that want to see America fail.

The narrative of the writer is very personal and emotional. It is an emotional discourse.
