I am smitten by this poem. I adore all the examples you have given, as what you see as kindness. All those little things, for many hardly visible and unnoticed, can mean a world of difference for the receiver. "Holding hands together, as long as they will reach." This almost made me cry, remembering my last three years with my dying husband.

"...cradling niceness with a womblike connection..." what an outstanding line!

Caring is so easy to do, so why do some find it hard? Love given, is love returned, and what a difference it makes to everyone. I really enjoyed reading your poem, it made me think of what I'm like, to I offer enough? We can all try harder. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

Your poem is very descriptive and thought-provoking. I really like your approach to the topic of kindness--stating a judgment, that showing of kindness is sporadic; then responding to your own mindset, concluding that all kindness is to be appreciated and need not be measured!

Good Morning, Jesse!
I have no idea how I missed your exceptionally well-crafted free verse offering, but I must have been outside - digging in the gardens when you posted!
The first stanza truly makes this reader pause and contemplate about the truth stated. It does appear that kindness has an "off and on" switch for some people.
I certainly do not believe your mind is "warped." But I do believe that when one is sensitive and caring - as you most certainly strike me to be - that there is always the tendency to perceive reality from one's personal lenses. I know I certainly do as well!
Kindness is underrated, sadly, in our world today.
Most definitely it needs to be treasured and cultivated...

Thank you for sharing!

Hello Diane! Thank you so much for the exceptional review and rating. I like and appreciate your kind comments. I notice the "on and off" switch used by the staff at the nursing home where I live, (for now). They seem to be 'clock-watchers' and nearing the end of their shift, they can turn off their caring nature and walk away. I suppose that's the nature of employees everywhere.
Please pardon my lateness in replying. I live in a whole different space and place than I am used to. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
    Have a beautiful day!

My dear friend..on Return, I thank you for this positively. It goes without saying of the temperament and delivery o this sufficient write. It does not speak of the superlative, but the gentle and the realness of what is important. ''with a womblike connection'' ....I love this sentiment here.
Six stars in all its simplicity.
My best to you Author...good to see you here.

I thought this was a thought-provoking piece. It does seem that the world turns kindness on and off. I thought this was well written and I enjoyed reading it.

What an excellently done free verse on caring, somettimes we do look too deep and expect too much when a small offering is given, then it is overlooked. This is very well thought out and excellently written

There seems to be inconsistencies in the mood of people from time to time and riots rear up and die down, they are reminders of how delicate and fickle people are in life. I once worked in a complaints department and even when we apologies and gave the customer everything they were still dissatisfied and wanted the whole complaint to have never happened, which of course is impossible for anyone to do. Once an event has happened we all have to move forward and make sure it never happens again. We learn in life as we age that we can only look to the future, the past is history. We need more love in the world Jesse, and your poem is promoting that, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

The words seemingly did flow well together as well as kept me wanting more and more of the poem!
It was pretty well thought out and if I had to change one thing it would be a different color for the background and the font possibly;-)
You're work is appreciated;-) Thank you for sharing;-)
Blessings;-)
