Yvette,
This acrostic is a through look through the changes of life. The wind has always been a metaphor for how quickly things change. All things change as you and they change. You imagination changes as you "grow up" as do relationships as they mature into marriages. Memories let you see the changes from time to time.
Good luck in the contest
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Don't mention it, Yvette. I go outside for a walk anytime weather permits. I hope you enjoy the outdoors when you can too. Enjoy your week

Hello Dear Yvette,
Now... you know I flounder with Acrostic poetry, but in your poetic mind and hands, well, the words flow effortlessly, rhythmically, and just plain beautifully! Damn! So moving!

One teeny observation is with the third line of the last stanza: wind (winds?)

Thank you for sharing!

Thanx, my friend!! This one took me most of Saturday afternoon... was in one of those VERY reflective and 'reminiscey' moods, you know? They don't come along often, but when they do, I have a hard time shaking them. Got no other writing done all weekend because of it...ugh. But I made my 'happy butt' (a phrase my students are quite fond of when I talk about their 'happy butts' doing what they ought - lol!) smile and start on my next chapter yesterday morning... that did the trick, I think! :) I also did quite a bit of 'serious' reviewing of a lot of the newbies -- they always take a lot longer and I won't lie and give them five stars just to 'get the money' and the 'teacher mode' thing seems to help with my mood, too. :) ;) Usually when I get like that, I undertake a project around the house... but since we're talking about trying to sell later in the year, I'm not putting any 'work' into the place, yeah?! ;) :) Anyway, THANK YOU for the stars, my lady -- I really think my years as a programmer are what make acrostics actually appealing to my analytical mind: it's just like 'coding' (as we used call writing programs back in the day) in that you have to anticipate what needs to happen five, ten or more steps away and write THIS line to make those steps work in the long run... Never even really thought about it until just now, but I'm betting that's it!! ;) :) So, hooray for former lives - lol!! ;)
Take care of you up there in the USSR and keep on smiling! :) Yvette

    Hello dear Yvette!
Acrostics are for you what Tetractys and Nonets are for me! But, damn! I just wish I could write an Acrostic for the ages!
Have been working outside all day. Feeling a bit comatose at the moment, and will have to take a hot shower and aspirin tonight, but I feel so wonderful to be moving and gardening again!
As for the USSR = "Herr Highness" has lifted a few orders in "our neck of the woods," but still no barbershops or hair salons are open; she is too busy trying out to be Biden's VP... Oye!

    Love ya!

This is a poem that must be read more than once to truly grasp how clever it is. You have packed a lot of philosophical truths that are only learned through living a long life. The beginning "hero's and halos" is just an awesome pairing - I think you could expand upon that in a short story or a poem dedicated just to your childhood and how that was true. Two of my childhood hangouts was an abandoned quarry we would ride our ponies and the railroad track (operational with the rare train) that ran behind our house and along the river. Anyway, your progressive poem of life is impressive and the ending is a nice touch - a reminder to always look forward. All of this is not easy to do with an acrostic! Well penned

Thank you, Margaret, for both your wonderful comments and that bonus 'plus' to top of the star stack! :) ;) I am glad you took the time to read the words and, perhaps, the meanings behind them - that alone means more than you know. :) :) I guess I was just feeling a bit more 'reminiscey' than usual (which, for me, is close to nil... or at least I don't allow my muses to capitalize on it often - lol!). :) So glad you enjoyed my acrostic, my lady, and thank you again for the stars!! :) Be sure enjoy some sun on your face and enjoy the week ahead!! ;) Yvette

Yvette,
Beautiful poem detailing life's journey. Your words
are well scripted creating images the reader can relate
to as their mind travels memory lane.
I am fond of the line, "Heroes and halos could
all save the day." It speaks to my childhood.
I find the line,"Softly youth's dreams remind we're
in arrears." Too many days of my youth were wasted
dreaming.
Writing your poem in Acrostic form was a challenge
you met well. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Blessings,
Richie

A beautiful offering and entry for the acrostic poetry contest, dear Yvette. A deep one, telling of changing seasons. I just did a similar theme, as we all feel these winds of change right now, I think. Still, we must hold to the promise of tomorrow as you said so poetically. ;) :)
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the contest,
Sally xoxo

Hello Yvette, this is a very ambitious writing of an acrostic and you have carried it out superbly. Very well displayed with your usual use of colour, subtly used. I particularly like, and identify with, the line in your last stanza -
Hauntingly we reflect back through our life....... very moving.

Beautiful display - Good Luck in the contest. Love Dorothy xx

What a wonderful reverie and so brave to use six words in an Acrostic. My goodness girl, you are talented. The words are so well rendered and the presentation is splendid. Beautifully done! XRalf

I like how this poem moves from pained nostalgia to euphoric forever. That's what it is all about, isn't it? Sometimes those winds of change seem to scream, not whisper, at me. Thank goodness they won't last.
This is quite the epic acrostic. I am so envious of your easy flow of thoughts. Your creativity is a blessing to us all.

Yeah.... I was feeling really 'reminiscey' on Saturday - this whole situation tends to push harder on me some times more than others. I fight with my smile and my snarkiness, but being 'closed' in here with 'everyone' home really kinda gets to me sometimes. But I'm back to being the only one in the office and the windows are open - hooray! :)
Thanx for your review, BBF - 'epic' is what happens when I'm feeling 'caged', I suppose! ;) Take care down there! ;) Yvette

Oh, look! It's the weekend! I have 6's again! :) This is now how we keep track of time... Fanstory gave me 6's... it must be the weekend! LOL, I loved this! It flowed perfectly... hair dye or not... lol (I gave that up a few months ago... it was burning my brain I had to use it so much! Be glad you're not a wacked-out brunette! You know I got a 2 for my father's Author poem? Because I used hyphens. It didn't count but really??? A 2 over hyphens? I want to say... no... I won't change them for you... it didn't count anyway! lol
My sister has been going through more family things... turns out my father has been bringing a box of things back and forth with him for years... momentoes and such. He didn't even know what was in there. There was a book that my Nana had published in! Yes, another one! lol... I guess we're full of them. Unknown, but full of them! LOL Who knows, perhaps I'll be next. lol

And when you are published, you'd better let me know! :) :) I want to know! ;) And, hey, you do know that I 'fry my brain', too... I absolutely CANNOT STAND gray on me!! :) :) And, yeah, there's a lot of newbies that have no idea what the rating system means - think it's a 'personal preference meter' to satisfy their moods and whims. I have on multiple occasions included the entire rating listing in my response... It's the OCD-teacher in me that things should be done CORRECTLY, I suppose. :) :) :) :)
But, now to the point of this: thank you, thank you, BLOTN for those wonderful stars... guess my muse was feeling 'extra-reminiscy' Saturday afternoon. I will tell you that I have made a vow to start this FIRST FULL WEEK OF SUMMER out with a positive attitude and get my pen happy again... DAMMIT!! ;) :) :) :)
You take care of you and your energetic little angel this week and we'll chat one day, yeah? Take care! ;) Yvette
