This is a beautiful acrostic contest entry, YM. I love everything about it--the beautiful image, the colored fonts, the super rhymes, and your heartfelt message of how life changes all of us from the time we are born 'til we pass. You did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

I just love the title of your poem, it conveys a truly vivid image. Would you mind if I stole it and used it. I love the innovativeness of Acrostic poems and you've done an amazing job with this one.

Hi there!
First of all, the artwork is incredible. The winds in the picture compliment the winds in the poem perfectly. And the colour scheme that you have set to make the acrostic letters stand out matches the colours in the picture so visually it all works really well to be pleasing to look at.
This poem is very ambitious, and it works. I get why you say, "acrostic of a lifetime." It really is a person's life spelled out through a phrase. The only critique I have is the word "Fin'lly". The flow of the poem is interrupted by this, in my opinion. I stopped reading to sound out the word the way it is written in my head. It was a little jarring basically. This is a tiny thing is a wonderfully written piece. Well done!

This is exceptional, IMHO, and I enjoyed it very much. Best of luck with the judges. A most worthy entry.
*sigh* Yep, those whispers are all too true. It makes me wonder if that's the reason change becomes harder to accept with aging... At least it isfor me...

Amazing as always! What a picture. I've had to stare at it for quite a while to let it sink in. It's powerful. What gorgeous saturated colors and the matching text completes a whole work of art!
You remind me of something I read awhile back and I went and found it on one of my many bookcases. On the first look! Imagine that!
Around the Year. By Emmett Fox.
September 8 The Unicorn.
As long as we insist upon telling God His business, nothing very much can come of our prayers.
The ox, the mule, the donkey, will obediently pull your plow and your cart, and take them where you want to go; but you have to know where that is, and how to get there. The unicorn will not do chores. He will not pull a cart or turn a mill. He will not take orders. The unicorn knows where he is going, and it is always somewhere that you could not choose because you never heard of it; and in your present consciousness you could not even dream that such a place could exist.
Nevertheless, there are such places, and the unicorn knows them and is not interested in anything less. Some day it may happen, probably when you least expect it, that the unicorn will suddenly appear at your side, eyes flashing, nostrils quivering, pawing the ground with impatience. When that happens, do not try to put a bridle on him, or to look for some task for him to do. He will not do it, and there will not be time. No sooner, seemingly, has he appeared than off he will go again. So do not pause, but leap upon his back, for he is a flying steed, and he wings his way to the gates of the morning. On that ride problems are not solved--they disappear.
Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? (Job 39:9-10)

Isn't that a soul burner?

Hope your weekend is going well and you are prospering :)

Wow - such a wonderful review, Lucy!! To think that my work pointed your mind back to such a unique piece that obviously made an impact on you is such a wonderful compliment - thank you!! ;) And thank you, too, for those bright, shiny stars to accompany such a lovely review -- you have truly made my day! ;) Oh, and the advice about the unicorn? Definitely true, but he will let you hope on and ride bareback... :) :) ;) Take care of you out there and enjoy the week ahead! ;) Yvette

Hello Yvette. This poem is an interesting perspective on life. You travel from youth on the way to eternity which is the ultimate destination for each of us.
The acrostic form is very well done. Good luck in the contest.

Good grief. I answered this on a mobile phone and I used some characters I don't normally see and I can tell that turn them into gnomes. It was funny looking on my phone. Now it looks dumb.

This acrostic poem, WHISPERED ON THE WINDS OF CHANGE, follows the vertical letter theme and takes us through life, seeing the milestones clearly passed, and waiting for the crossing light.

I admired your reflections about the changing cycles of life. The striking artwork beckoned us into your colorfully presented acrostic. What a wonderful range of experiences from the "unicorns" to the re-emptied "nests"! Here's to the "Winds of Change"!- Joan

What a wonderful poem. You start out with childhood that is fun. Then we
move on to young adults. The years pass by and soon we are old.
You've chosen the perfect image.
