Oh goodness, if you saved a person's life, you should be complimented instead of someone getting angry. Evidently you were attractive. I'm sure that you didn't want the attention that brought those kinds of problems.

I would have thought she'd be grateful. Dave wasn't able to return to work so I never saw him again after that.

This was an excellent chapter. So much prejudice and unfairness in employment. So glad for little Don that you had a better situation for him! And boy, you didn't have anything like 911 back then? How dangerous it was for you to drive someone, dying of a heart attack to the doctor! Thank the Lord, that you made it. Dave's wife was probably just projecting her stress onto you instead of being thankful. What a tumultuous time for you! And yes, how annoying the salary inequality was and still is in some areas.

Thank you for the review and comments. No, I don't think 911 was around and I didn't think of calling an ambulance. I don't know what I would have done if he'd died on the way. Thank for catching that.

This chapter details the 60's with several factual accounts in our shared history. You used good descriptions of the tensions and of the inequality of pay for men and women.
[. . . so we decided to take the kids. I invited Phillip to go along. He showed up in a suit and tie. I had to take a picture of the two of them because ( because ) they looked so cute together. ]
[ President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 (not '4) ]
Thanks of sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Dear Beth, so glad there were no great traumas for you in this Chapter, so it was the perfect time to summarize current events and set the stage for retelling of the very traumatic events that were about to happen.
I am looking forward to hearing how much desegregation affected your life and work.

Yes it was difficult for women back, my wife told me the married women weren't permanent in jobs, whereas men were, my wife was a teacher, mind you that changed in the 70s fortunately. Beautifully written my friend Beth, you've done a good job with this. Well done, love your biography, blessing Roy

wow, what a jerk this Rob character :"blem was he didn't know how to do the job, and I was expected to train him. Robert made no excuse or secret of the fact that he would be making a higher salary than me. When I protested that it was unfair, I was told that I had a husband to support me, and that was just the way it was. Women should not expect to be paid the same salary as men. He reminded me that women, who have children, are less dependable because if the child is sick, it is the mother who must take off work."
Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Thank you for the review. He was a jerk but there were a lot of jerks that believe women didn't deserve the same rights as men. That has change a lot over time but it could stand to change a bit more in some places.

Nice blend of family events and historical news that changed the country. Love following your children's lives. So glad Carol survived fever and Don got a bed of sorts. I agree about killing deer for sport. Eating the meat at least makes it serve a purpose.
That's terrible about the wife accusing you of stealing her husband when you tried to help. Some people are so insecure in their marriage.
I think men still make more than women in some businesses.

Thank you for the review. I enjoyed reading all your comment. You are so right about a lot of wives being insecure. I wish Robert's wife had been a little more insecure and had tried to keep a closer watch on him. He never stopped trying to hit on me. I think she was probably on the prowl as well.

Lots of life events happening at home and at work and the world is filled with lots of events of the time - events that would change the course of history, in some instances - an enjoyable read
