There is nothing more nostalgic than looking at old photographs, the imagination runs wild with thoughts of oohs and ahs wishing you could be there to say hi, wishing you could be there to participate.
There's an affinity to the people in a picture and that just simply touches the depths of the heart beyond words.
I like the font you used in your poem, it goes well with that time period, and the poem reads well too. The image is great both in the photography, and in the words, that take the picture of the picture. giovanni

When I see your name I know I'm in for a treat. You have that "it" factor that brings poetry off the page (or computer screen)and directly into the heart. I recently was talking to a friend who bemoaned that she took hundreds of photos with her Smart Phone but deleted many, over time---we both reminisced over shoe boxes of dog-eared black and white pieces of our family history we used to spend hours pouring over--explaining to our children (now adults) and now our grandchildren that "he" was my great grandfather, a WWI Vet ad "she" my great grand-mom a full blooded Algonquin Native American... There is a price we pay for digital "everything" isn't there? Loved this... Thanks for sharing.--Karenina

I like this idea of capturing a moment in time. It seems like an insignificant moment, but by describing the faces in the photograph, you suggest the significance in insignificance; the beauty of life in its most mundane moments. It is a theme popular among the modernists. I thought you language was very natural, very honest and personable, underscoring that theme. estory

An excellent poem, Diana. Isn't it amazing how a picture such as this one of yours enlightens us and prompts memories so dear to us?

I liked the entire poem...especially these lines:

"....back when barefoot
ruled the day.'

Bless you and good luck :) Bob

This is a beautifully written piece reflecting the joys of family life in its simplicity. I am so grateful to have old photos to turn to when reflecting on the past, they are like a window into a time gone by. Thank you for sharing this peek into your family's window

Oh what a happy, sad, delightful photo and poem. I work in a nursing home and there are so many of those types of photos on the nightstands and bureaus of the residents. I think you're one of the people I may have told, I only gives six stars to poems that I feel. This one captured my heart. What would we do without the miracle of photography? Beautiful work.

Terry

Hello Diana,

I love your tribute to your family in this poem, "A Picture on my wall." The best part is; you still have a photo of your family (three generations). I love it. This is a well-done poem showing your love for your family. Wow! To see a picture of your father at four years old is so precious. Good job!!
I saw no errors. I love the video by Yanni. Happy writing:-)

still have one of them with you today.

but know I know. How cute!

-There is a lot of heart

You are very welcome, Diana. I wonder if it is strange looking at your dad being so young:)

I don't think we ever think of our parents as really young! Have a good Mother's Day:)
