I've spent many a lunchtime just like your story. I have to admit that I would get flustered because someone wouldn't let me read. They wanted to talk. You did a great job and I didn't see any errors. Have a great day and stay well. Shirley

What a clever way of getting to your point, following idle lunchroom chatter about celebrity gossip to something we as writers can all relate to- becoming celebrities ourselves! Can't wait to see you on Oprah-if she's even still around!

I hope you do. You are a talented writer, if this is anything to go by. JK Rowling once said, write two books. If publishers don't like one they are bound to like the other and, if they don't, they obviously have no taste. Good luck in the contest and career and thank you for sharing.

Greetings, dmt! Thanks so much for stopping by to read and review this true story. Your comments are so kind! I do plan to make the bestseller list--I believe it will be with the book that I co-author with Bill Bishop (Commando). It is called "Love Long Distance" and it will be published in just a few months. We encourage you to check it out. I like what you shared her about JK Rowling. Thank you, also, for the good luck in the contest. It helped! :) Wishing you all the best best. Take care and keep writing.

Hello Friend,
LAUDABLE piece of Non-Fiction!
Captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, having
Impressive phraseology beautifully depicting the theme from 'hoping to believing' and thereby the power of self-confidence / CAN which makes an author the BEST- SELLING AUTHOR.
SUPERB.
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

Great story, and very encouraging to your fellow writers! I enjoyed the background about the lunchroom at work, and how you told your coworkers how you are writing a book. Their reaction was positive, and your response was even better!
I will try to remember your name, after the voting, when I find out what it is :-)

I enjoyed this story because it shows eternal optimism in the face of the dreaded pile of rejection slips. The author shows great courage in having dared to reveal to people seen every day that he/she is an author. I tend to keep quiet about that - they'll only want to read, and won't accept that something isn't ready to be let out to air. I can do without daily hassle on this subject.

Hi Katherine, Thank you so much for stopping by to read and review this true story. I love your comments! The hardest part in becoming a published author (2012) was to share my writings with others. It was scary! Four books later, I'm still not a bestselling author, but I have had my books read by thousands, and believe it will happen with my AWESOME co-author Bill Bishop (Commando) when we publish "Love Long Distance" in just a few months. Stay tuned... :) Wishing you all the best. Take care and keep writing.

This was a humorous and upbeat little story. Although it had a tongue-in-cheek quality to it, it still gives me hope, because you never know. I, too, am working on a novel, and I'm having a blast, although I might not have any readers.

Dear Mystery Writer,

Absolutely. One must have confidence in this profession - for a long, long time that's all that will sustain you! hahaha

At least, in this day and age, things move MUCH MORE QUICKLY. Back when I started writing, the only way to submit was by mail - and few places accepted simultaneous submissions. Which meant researching publishers, magazines, etc, and then mailing your stuff off and WAITING. And waiting and waiting and...

When you'd finally hear back from someone - mostly with rejections at first, you were elated if anyone took the time to really write something valuable and helpful in the rejections rather than just the standard rejection form letters. Each step was a milestone and they took years to traverse.

Nowadays, we can send something off and discover whether or not it's 'right' for the publisher within days! (Sometimes even hours!)

FanStory is a gift for most folks - it's a college education that never ends.

This was really interesting and well-written. I enjoyed!

Good luck!
