Gorgeous photo of a NZ Kotuku white heron in breeding plumage, to go with your flights of fanciful imagery - your 'wonder' lust did a lot of travelling. There's danger out there for words on the loose.

Once free of lockdown, I'm looking forward to going over to the heron's bird colony on the West Coast (South Island NZ) and go kayaking to see them.

I hope that's not what we do to our words! Kill them! But I guess when we pin them into a specific poem or story we have given t hem a single definition and ended their stream of choices. Until the next poem or story. Well done.

Great artwork choice for overall presentation. Nice poem. I liked how you wrote this poem with plenty alliterations. Nothing really stood out, but it was very lyrical on my tongue with assonance. Beautiful storytelling. Excellent :)

I love the wording in this poem, and the unexpected phrasing which takes the reader off with those escapee birds/words. My perception of this poem's meaning is that if a poet (or writer) reins in their thoughts too much, then those words don't thrive on the page. They wither. If we allow ourselves to simply fly off...go with it, as it were...we may produce work that is more natural, beautiful and work that is a thriving metropolis on each page it graces. Yes, I did love this piece Tony; it's beautiful!

I heard some great 's' alliteration in scratch, seedlings, and sigh.
