A lot of luck in the story of the month contest entry. I hate covid. It took the life of a cousin of mine. I hope you are well. Take care, and keep smiling.

This is a powerful post and I only wish it were true. We could have learned a lesson. We should have, but we didn't. I wonder sometimes, if we're capable as a species of putting anything or anyone before ourselves. I would like to think so, but society hasn't done much to bolster the hope. I'm afraid we won't stop until Mother finally kicked us off planet in the worse possible ways. But I continue to hope and I will pass this on.

Amen - this country...ugh, what are we going to do? Unfortunately, this is not sci fi...I have written some myself. I am telling everyone I know what I think is coming and gathering supplies, strength, and energy. I am handicapped and dread the coming days.

Hello Cogitator,
What a wonderful piece of Non-Fiction this is!
Lovely starting!! The First Paragraph is an EXCELLENT HOOK leading the reader through all the REMARKABLE points up to the MARVELOUS end: It is no longer me, me, me, but rather WE.
Timely, entertaining, and educative! Superb!!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.
[May God grant us wisdom! Let's hope for the good senses to prevail all around us.]

It seems to me there are some government officials who needed a reminder, and this fourth wave (hopefully) is giving it to them. Where I live they lifted restrictions too soon, against the advice of medical experts, and we've been hit hard. Hospitals are overloaded and lifesaving surgeries are being cancelled. The ones in power are still putting dollars before lives.

You have an interesting article here, built more on hope and less on reality. I wish you had a magic wand to bring about some of your hopes for us, but magic doesn't really work, does it. Enjoyed this.

Well, hi there. I can certainly agree with you, on one thing, and that is that I've become so much closer to friends and families. We live far apart but have made a point of video talk once a week. It has brought us so much closer. I'm glad I live in Europe. Here health care is free to all regardless of income and who you are. Doctors are not afraid of being sued. Of course, we pay tax throughout I working life to pay for it, and gladly so. It's called welfare. America has a lot to learn. Ulla:)))

What an eye opening commentary! No divisive back and forth about to jab or not to jab. You lend us all a moment to consider the many lessons learned as we slog through the ramifications of this pandemic. I know I will never take a hug from my grandchildren for granted again. I've grown close to neighbors I'd only wave too pre-covid. We check In on one another now. The tender beauty of a smile has been lost to masks, our hands red and chapped by incessant washing. Imagine pressing your palm up against a nursing home window! I am now at seven members of my family who have had covid. One passed just last week. Life is a blessing. We are, none of us, promised a tomorrow. This touched me deeply.
