I admire your gardening ethos of weed control - just don't call it a weed and welcome its presence. They are usually robust and come in pretty shades of green - no wonder your grass is greener... your ass will also be greener when you skid on all that lush growth.

Dealing with lawns, is the main reason I might consider moving to place where one doesn't exist, at least one I have to maintain. I always impressed by those have beautifully green lawns. If I can managed to get my mower started one a month, I attempt to mow my weeds by now trending toward knee high. Luckily few ever see my yard as I'm a quarter of a mile from the street. I enjoyed your piece about going green.

As usual, you made laugh - your story is so entertaining :"Greenest in both senses; literally, and in that there is nary a toxic chemical toward its nurture. And not a weed to be found! "Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

I love it. Thank you for sharing, "Going Green". You have masterfully instructed us in some of the intricacies of the English language. You know full well he who determines the nomenclature wins the argument. You know the art of setting the expectation and then skillfully reconstructing the framework of our expectation through providing alternative definitions to preconceived, thought to be established, definitions. Great job!

As I look around here in Arizona. . .none of that applies. The Cacti are ruled extinct and cannot be removed. . . and that's it! This was an interesting read. . .I like the "grass" is always greener idea but I'm so glad I no longer have to keep it green, watered, raked and weed free(like in California). It just makes life so much easier. :) Good luck with this piece.

Thank you! I visited in Arizona once and the hotel staff struggled to grow a grass lawn. What a joke! I told management: This is the desert, for Godssake--give it up! Cheers. LIZ

Thank you! I stayed in Scottsdale once; the hotel staff struggled vainly to grow a grass lawn. I said: give it up, you're in a desert! Cheers. LIZ
