This is so moving Diane. I love the poignant way you use the scent of daffodils to show that we can be deeply moved by scents that remind us of important moments and people. Well said.

Dear Author,
This is a beautiful Nonet poem. I love your picture of 14 Narcissus and feel their number is important. I love every line and this one stays the longest with me: "Bending, I inhale a lifetime of memories as tears fall." It is a great way to commemorate a memory.
Best in winning the contest,
Deborah

A beautiful tribute to you mother Diane. I could sense the loving emotion in your eloquent message. Anniversaries of a loved ones death or their birthday often bring to mind treasured memories.

Very nicely done.

Blessings

Hello Diane. Your Nonet offering is pristine in construction and I interpret your verse as a tribute to your mother. It is well written and easy to read which is important to me.

I don't usually award six stars for forms of poetry like this, but I just loved it! Its emotional impact is huge, and your wording so eloquent, that I felt very moved. I think poetry is all about emotional impact, which is why I often don't feel "moved" by restrictive forms of poetry like the nonet, but this read like an ordinary poem; nothing forced, nothing jarring, it simply delivered. I'd say we have a winner here! If I were able to place a vote for it, I would. I hope the Committee is kind to you! Good luck xoxoxoxoxoxo

    Oh my goodness, Gypsy!
I am overwhelmed by the overall reception of this offering, and I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
My mother was such a loving and creative presence in my life.
A master floral designer, she was born on February 27, 1923. Whenever daffodils begin to appear in our grocery stores - usually at the beginning of February, I purchase two bunches - 7 in a bunch - and I bring them home and place them in a blue vase...and I remember...always with love... She is never more than a thought away, but she is even nearer to me when daffodils bloom...

    Thank you again, Gypsy!

A lovely memorium to your late mother your imagery is both delicate and beautiful and creates an uplifting feel to an otherwise sad situation. I really enjoyed reading this honour to your mother. Thank you for sharing.

Hello my friend

Beautiful nonet you wrote in your mother's memory. My mom died when I was ten years old. Good job with the money format. The presentation is nice.

Simply beautiful. I love the word essence and all it implies. I lost my beloved Mother in law a couple years ago.She would always greet me in a flurry, hihihi, she would say. When I walk into her home now, I whisper hihihi, just in case.
This is a powerful poem that gives us a glimpse of a Mother well~loved and missed. Cheers, judester

    Dear Judy,
    Oh my goodness!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
The love you shared for your mother-in-law and how you "whisper hihihi just in case" brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me of my grandmother, Edna McNeil who always would greet me with "Iyaiyai" when I visited! Why? I have no idea.
My mother, however, was a master floral designer. Everything I know about flowers, gardening, beauty, I learned from her.
She was born on February 27, 1923. Throughout February, when daffodils begin to appear in our grocery stores here in northern Michigan, I purchase two bouquets of daffodils - 7 in a bouquet.
She is never more than a thought away, but in February, I place the daffodils in a beautiful blue vase, and I remember...

    Thank you again!

This is exceptionally beautiful and touching. The simple title misleads the meaningfulness of this lovely nonet. I am glad you wrote the line above it, and the memorialized line, just above the poem. Then, when I read the poem, the fullness of meaning shone through so well. I love each line, and notice, that the story unfolds to completion in just nine lines. My favorite line is "Amid shafts of golden sunshine," it is alliterative with the "s" sound of "shafts" and "sunshine." It sounds wonderful, all of it does, when read aloud. I wonder, to myself, why there are fourteen flowers in the vase of blue. Does the number signify anything in particular? The last five lines flow seamlessly, as if written as one line. Yet, it fits the format of the nonet, perfectly. I was moved by "as tears fall." It summarized how much the flowers in the vase represented the memories of your mother. This is a lovely tribute to your mother, very well written in the nonet style.
Take care, Jesse

    Hello Jesse!
I am overwhelmed by the positive reception of my small offering.
And I am genuinely honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
My mother was such a creative and inspirational person in my life. A master floral designer, everything I know about flowers, gardening, and beauty I learned from my mother. She was born - on a farm - on a kitchen table - on February 27, 1923. She loved daffodils...as do I.
Every February, when daffodils first begin to appear in our grocery stores, I always purchase - weekly - 2 bunches - 7 daffodils to a bunch... I so wish my mother was still alive. My husband and I just found out that our daughter and son-in-law are going to be parents in September. Our first grandchild! Our daughter and son-in-law have been married for 9 years! My mother loved our daughter, Rachel, dearly (Rachel Ann is named after my mom) Exciting times ahead!

    Have a wonderful week!

Congratulations on the news of the upcoming birth of your first grandchild! How thrilling, and yet, since your daughter's name, is the same as your mother's, you must be thinking of your mother even more, and how wonderful it is for her to have her first great-grandchild! The shared link in life continues on...
    Have a great week, too!
    Take care, Jesse

Your sweet-sad nonet is beautifully presented and nicely structured.

I am often struck by the way something simple - a word, a face, a look, a household object - can flood the mind with memories, as your mind has been here, where the vase of flowers recalls your mother.

Great job. I wish you well in the contest.

Steve
