Beautiful! Before I saw the superscript before your post, I thought it might be another of your lovely tributes to your mom. Your nonet is perfectly shaped and reads smoothly with the alliterative "shafts...sunshine" and the "nodding narcissus." Best wishes in the contest!

Mrs.KT: what a wonderful, colorful, warm and yet sad write. You miss her yet the memories are a part of your very being. Very sweet. You have honored her so beautifully with your words and lovely flowers. She is with you, watches over you and you will see her again. Bless you. Linda

Oh I really love this poem. To begin with the blue glass face with yellow flowers in it is my thing. It's my favorite summer look. I am sorry that tears fall, perhaps a vase of flowers brings back memories. My husband is gone now and every single spring he came in with a huge bouquet of lilacs for me to put on the kitchen table. I can't smell them without thinking of him. I hope your flowers can bring you happiness. This is truly a beautiful poem.

    Hello Therese!
I always associate daffodils with my mother.
Mom was a master floral designer and everything a know of flowers, gardening, and beauty I learned from her...
I love lilacs as well; in fact, I recently wrote a poem entitled "A Cluster of Lilacs" and in my portfolio there are at least three other poems dedicated to your favorite flower... :)

    Thank you again!

I celebrate your beautiful nonet in here. I know how difficult is this process of listening ot the voice of inspiration and counting syllables at the same time. I like your bio that you teach to read.

I absolutely love the metaphors

Her essence greets me from the doorway.
Amid shafts of golden sunshine,
fourteen nodding narcissus
clustered in vase of blue.

I also like how you then proceeded to say bending and then the passage to complete the remembrance of your Mother.

That is OUTSTANDING KT I so thin your going to fair well in the contest

Chills. That's my review, Beautiful Lady... chills. You have such a beautiful sense of emotional ties to the physical that it quite astounding sometimes... I looked at the title before I opened this one and thought, 'hmmmm, what is that Diane up to this time?'... But this, this is perfection in that realm. Why? Well, 'In vase of blue' defines the vessel of your memories - perhaps the former owner of the vase, perhaps the gifter of the vase -- yes, those narcissus put the sunshine over the vase, but that vase and the fact that it 'continues' with your narcissus is where the tears come from... it is a simple message of personal heart that transfers to your reader in the form of ... chills. :) Perfect. Yvette

    Hello dear Yvette!
So...My mother was born on February 27, 1923.
She loved daffodils. Was a master floral designer.
Everything I know about flowers, gardening, beauty, I learned from her...
Each February, daffodils appear in our grocery stores - harbingers of spring.
And the memories come rushing back.
I always purchase two bunches. Seven in a bunch.
And I carefully bring them home - out of the cold - and place them in a blue vase either on our kitchen table, dining room table, or on an antique table in our living room.
    And I remember.
She is never more than a thought away...
You would have loved her, too.
One hell of a gutsy, creative lady.

Thank you so much for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review!
    Buried in another snowstorm today.
The daffodils made it all bearable!

    love ya!

I love not only your words, sentiments and images (especially nodding narcissus), but also how the physical shape of the poem seems like a vase, reflecting the title and content. I'm so sorry for your loss and uplifted by how you honor your mother's memory in verse.

I really liked this one. I can appreciate the difficulty and effort involved in formatting a poem like this. Just a labor of love. I'm pretty new at all of this, but one I'd like to try. Thank you for sharing.
Happy writing,
Larry

Great poem. I really love the imagery and the poignant emotions the flowers bring. Such a moving mix of beauty, memories, love and tears. Good luck in the contest.
