I like how you've presented the story of Rahab in this. It just shows us what the Lord can do. He can cause the most unassuming and or shunned and outcast person to be elevated to a prominent place. I believe that the Lord does this on purpose because it goes against the religious viewpoint. The Lord has no respect of persons. The widow that put in just a mite in the offering gave more than all of the big wigs of that time. Thank God that He doesn't look at the outer appearances, but, the heart. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done Melissa!

Hi Jeffrey. I am thrilled that you understand my point I made at the end of this verse. God will redeem all of us who come to him with humble hearts through Jesus.. Rahab did not have knowledge of Jesus, but she feared God... he honored that. Thanks so much

This is written beautifully. I love the rhythm especially, and the story of Rahab in the Old Testament, you managed so well in rhyme. My brain just doesn't work so good anymore to write anything close to this. I just love this to pieces.

Nice job on this story of Rahab. Sometimes it's puzzling how God chooses - but He sees into the heart. And chooses whom He will. He's an all-knowing God with a plan. Good poem

A very well-written poem about faith. The test if our faith is when hard times fall upon us. We will make a choice to stand strong in our faith and believe God will provide an outcome, or follow the crowd honoring the world's treasures.

Comment from Gloria ....
That sure is a clear and high definition photograph. Love the sepia tones.
And yes you have written another fine Amphibrach metred poem. I find this is the perfect cadence for a story, and your story of Rahab is a stunning entry into the faith contest.
Great job, Melissa and I wish much luck with the Contest Committee. :)

Melissa,
One of the great stories of the Bible, and of forgiveness and cleansing and rebirth. And, I suppose, of salvation, too. Certainly, Rahab could expect nothing less than death with the rest of her country/city-folk. But her belief in the Hebrew God saved her. She was a wise and wily woman and her actions made an impact on ALL of us.
This poem is lovely. I like this unusual meter and have to think it must be rathe difficult to BEGIN. Maybe when you get started, it gets easier -- I hope so, anyway. *smile* You sure make it look easy.
The closing line is just perfect. Enjoyed this so much and I have a feeling it will do great in the voting. Good luck!

WOW! You need to send this to a Christian curriculum for Sunday School. I think it's marvelous. I always read rhymed Bible stories to my kids (Arch books) and we loved them. Loved how God uses all people for His kingdom!
