If I have no power to change what future brings to me, then I would rather not worry knowing in advance. Hahahaa! Thanks for your sharing your insight.

Hi Esostine,
Again, sorry for the delay. I had fun writing this one. I don't think I could read the book, but I might like just a peek at a page or two--then again, maybe not. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the topic.

Hi Joan,
Thank you for the excellent review. Most people said they would not read it since they couldn't change, but there were a few brave souls, such as you, who would want to take the chance.
Thanks for going back to read this one.

What a challenging situation in your poem! I think most of us would rather not know and keep working out the mysteries and adventures of life.
Congratulations on the win!!!

Thank you. I actually kept track of the responses. Only three people said they would read the book. Most said they would not read it; a few said they would have to think about it.

I don't think I'd want to know.
If it's good...I don't want to ruin
the surprise, if if it's not...I can't change
it.
Wonderful write!! Congratulations on winning,
most deserved!

Thank you for the excellent review. Most people who commented said they would not want to read the book. Three did and I found their reasons interesting. One said she had lived a great life and wouldn't change a thing. Another said he would read it because worrying about what might happen consumes so much of his time. The other one said he couldn't resist if the book were in front of him because the curiosity would drive him crazy.
I'm with you for exactly the reasons you list.
Thanks again for a great review.

Hi Debi,
Wow, this is an absolutely gorgeous poem. I love the meaning your words bring to the reader, especially the very powerful opening stanza. Your rhymes are natural to my ear and unforced. Congratulations on winning the contest with this most deserving entry!

Hi Bev,
Thank you so much for the six star rating, the congratulations, and most especially, for the encouraging comments. I didn't have anything active so I didn't expect to find any review today.
Thank you for brightening my day!
And, once again, welcome back!

WOW! Your poem addresses an issue some friends and I were discussing very recently. We ALL said we didn't want to know . . . especially would not want to know when or how we were going to die. Your poem is very well-written and thought-provoking.

-Very nice image
and presentation.
-I like your topic
and your poem.
-It is written very well
with a very good premise.
-You present the details
well for having 20/20 vision,
and even give the provision.
-Given that, my answer is I
would walk away.
-I wouldn't want to know
things in advance; I would
worry about them all!
-I like your poem and
hope you do well in the contest.
-What is your answer to the question?
-It would be interesting to
know the responses you are getting.

Thank you for the detailed and encouraging review. I agree, I would walk away without reading it.
I waited until the contest was over to count up the responses readers left in their reviews. Since you asked, here they are:
16 said No, they would not read the book
3 said Yes, they would definitely read the book
5 said they Wondered if they would read the book
7 said it was an Interesting Question

You are very welcome, Debi. So you are the mysterious author, and Contest Winner!!!! Congratulations. A great poem and very interesting answers. Thanks for posting them.
-
Thank you, Pam.
Yes, I got lucky. I haven't entered a contest in years. They always make me so nervous for some reason.
Since I created this one I felt I had to submit an entry.

Thanks for sharing, Debi. There were so many of those 20 contests, I had forgotten you had sponsored one. It was a really good poem, and you got some very interesting answers!
Comment from Robert Zimmerman
Hello mystery writer. This is an interesting poem as well as an interesting concept. And the mystery of time travel Leads one to wonder what would be the thing to do. Being able to time travel and not change anything is an interesting concept. Good luck in the contest.

Great entry for the contest and very creative! Good question but I would definitely read it and accept it. A lot of suffering in life is caused by worrying about what if and why didn't I do better with that.

Hi Bill,
I like your insightful comments. Most reviewers stated they would not read the book, but your have a point about all the worry that is caused about wondering what will happen.
Thank you for the exceptional six star rating! You made my day.
