The use of 'Besieged' in the title lets us now this is going to be a fierce snowfall, carried through with 'tempest' and 'heaves and moans' (although to me, the latter sounds more like the aftermath of too much curry and booze the night before!)
The leaves, the limbs, and mention of ermine, populate the poem with memorable imagery. An excellent nonet - congratulations on your worthy win!

Hello Lisa!
Thank you for your excellent rating and humorous review! "Curry and booze," eh?
Congratulations on your "Dreams Come Alive" win = beautiful!
The artwork in my poem could well be our yard/woods at this very moment! And yes, "booze" sometimes is what we need when Mother Nature gets rolling along!
Thank you again!

Boos as well as booze! I see you are knee deep in white stuff - pretty, but pretty awful too. All our seasons are getting more extreme - here in NZ it's Spring and the branches are nearly breaking with the overabundance of blooms on the rhododendron boughs in our botanic garden. Bushfires are raging in other countries, serious flooding elsewhere.

A striking autumnal/ winter image created here in this Nonet as the last of autumn leaves finally succumb to Mother Nature's rhythms - an enjoyable read

The white snow made me think of the cosy times where you're just inside the house under blankets in winter time, with hot chocolate in hand. Thank you for the good read, the picture fit the written peace really well.

We now have leaves covered by snow in Tennessee. It was extremely early for snow. This poem is wonderfully written, and I love the picture.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.

Perfect. How innovative to introduce the ermine into the landscape that it mirrors and the poem is a true nonet with meaning. Lovely presentation indeed!

I like your poem. It is very well written, being a teacher I guess it would be well written! Your descriptive account put the picture in my head. The picture accompanying your poem is beautiful!! Why is it that it's exciting to see the first snowfall of the year but then hate it the rest of the year (except on
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) It started snowing yesterday here in western PA and still snowing strong! Great poem and good luck!

This is a lovely poem. The words are well chosen to fit the Nonet format without being stilted. They paint a picture of a winter's frost which is enhanced by the image that complements the words.

Hello Diane, this is a lovely nonet, written true to form and the wording is lovely. I like your last two words in which the snow could be almost referring to a mink coat - the animal whose fur turns white in winter. Very nice tasteful display, with just a tinge of colour. Well done - Good Luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x
