Dear Mary, so many need to read this. The details are vivid and scary. I hope your stitches are out by now and you are on the mend.
denial, stubbornness, and a case of self-managing arrogance --this is so true of men!

OMG - I was under the impression that Basil was the slowest growing and 'safest' type of cancer. In fact, I had a speck on my face which turned out to be Basil. I had it removed.

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sure this posting will help educate some people. I'm glad you're okay now. Hugs, Lou

Thank you so much for your review and yes, my husband made the terrible mistake of trying to self-manage his (doc phobia), and it very nearly cost him his life nearly three years ago. I appreciate your review very much!

Wow! I didn't know how fast it could grow and not be clearly detectable. Thank you so much for the warning. I'm glad you got it treated at Stage 1 but I'm so sorry that your husband has to have the chemo drug for the rest of his life! What an ordeal for both of you!

Damn, I nearly missed this brilliant post. aside from being flawless and vital information, even someone with questionable comprehension and reading skills would understand this one -- my much admired and preferred style of writing.

You are way to generous with your six on this one, my friend. I have so much on my plate right now, I think Brunhilda has left for good along with my muse. I was such a nice surprise to open FS after at least a week to find a REVIEW initially, and then a SIX to top it off, on writing that is marginal, but more about getting people to take this shit seriously, skin cancer. Thank you my dear friend. Love you. Will call when I can...

Oh, you are so wrong -- I was not overly generous at all. I learned a long time ago to KISS and aim my writing at about a grade 10 level (Uh... these days, more like university grads? LOL) Your op/ed is right on the money, IMHO, and furthermore, full of compelling, important tips and description.

Love you too. I'll look forward to your call. xx

About your husband, well, I don't know what it is with men and doctors...

Thank you, Mary. I admire you brave spirit and tenacity. When presented with these difficult health issues in our old age, it's easy to give up and surrender to hopelessness. I am glad to hear of both you and your husband's healing and life extension. Sending this back with prayers for you both and a big hug.
Sally xoxo

A harrowing tale--but with a positive ending. All appeals to get regular checkups should be heeded. Though, I admit to falling more closely into your husband's habits than yours. Thanks for the nudge.

Peace, Lee

Four hours and three dips to get clear margins later, while suppressing inner fight or flight reflexes sitting still in a chair as my face was carved up in a zig-zag pattern from my inner eye to the bottom of my nose. --Mary, this is a pretty long, complicated sentence. Maybe you can divide it?

Thank you Lee, for your time, talent and suggestions for improving the flow. I have made changes accordingly, and appreciate your keen eye. Now, don't follow my husband's plan of doctoring...#getchecked! :)

Me and doctors are allergic to one another. Even so, I figure I've got a decade in the tank. L

I have been following you on facebook and I love the makeup picture on the followup.. It is scary and even more when misdiagnosed and the one to suffer is you.

Aw, great to hear Barb. Thank you for the follow. I have to admit I'm thinking a new family doctor might be in order! I appreciate you time in reading and going the extra step to review. XO
