Does he return? I will continue reading your great love story. Are you planning on making a movie of this story someday? It has been really good read. Onto the next chapter....

Hi Rosemary! It's so awesome that you are continuing to follow along. Thank you so much for reading this chapter. Yes, we'd love to make this into a movie. The published book will be first, though, and plans are to have it out by the end of this year. Wishing you all the best. God Bless.

A "SALUTE," Cathy! Quite an "AWESOME" Chapter you have Co-authored in Love Long Distance, "A Salute to Grandpa!" Of course, you know my philosophy; yet, other readers may not. "Writing is unarguably a passionate art form. It affords us the opportunity to reevaluate ourselves, our relationship with others, our station in life and the world around us." In conclusion, may I say, "Sharing my thoughts with you, writing at your side, and having your support along the way is...an HONOR!" Best wishes and God Bless. Respectfully with Admiration and Love, Bill.

Oh, my, my...if it isn't my all-time favorite guy!! Thank you so much for the AWESOME six stars and great comments. A "SALUTE" back to YOU! Thank you, also, for sharing with others your philosophy on writing. So very well said. I agree, wholeheartedly! The HONOR is all mine for being able to "share my thoughts with you, write at your side, and have your support along the way." I am truly blessed for having met you here. Being able to co-author with you is a dream come true! Wishing you sunshine and happiness always, and remember...in my book, YOU'RE THE BEST! God Bless.

    Hi Cathy,
Quite an astonishing reply to my review! Grandpa told me years ago, "Kind words never fail! When spoken in faith, they always give joy. It's the little things that encourage others...your kind words, your gentle ways, your patience, and your meekness--that gives others peace, and the strength to carry on. For these are the fruits of the Spirit. This is loving one another. This is abiding in Jesus, and knowing that He is abiding in you! There are those who should think before they speak, and see the good in others. They should as well, look for the opportunity to say something nice. A smile, a loving touch... and once again, kind word...NEVER FAILS!" I truly believe, "You have all four bases loaded here...a "SALUTE!"

    Hi Angel,
The baby deer are waiting in the meadow for you and I to feed 'em. So, c'mon! You wrote, "Grandpa is so wise!" Grandma said tell you, "A wise person is someone who realizes that wisdom is ephemeral; it's an ever changing state of knowing and understanding that is constantly transmuting, transforming and evolving. And, it requires a balanced integration of the instinctual, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of knowing." Grandma said as well, "I have looked in all of Grandpa's pockets; yet, I never found any of the above. However, I did find a pint of moonshine whiskey." Now, don't call up and tell Grandpa what Grandma said...Sheee! Wanna know what Bill said? He said, "YOU mean so much to him...and GOD BLESS!

There would have been thousands of cases of loved ones having to part under these sorts of circumstances and, of course, it's still going on. I enjoyed reading this.

I picked up a few spags. Ignore any you don't agree with.

"What's the matter with you, Beautiful?" A familiar voice asked - lower case for 'a'

Grandpa put a flashlight up to the side of his check - should be 'cheek'

so it can't be trick or treat." Bill replied - replace period with a comma

"Okay, but it better be a short intermission 'cause I've got miles to go before I sleep." Billy replied - replace period with a comma

So, we began meeting secretly, fell in love, then night after night, we meet under this same willow tree." - should be 'we'd meet'

God will speak to you there and tell you if it's wrong - comma after 'there'

Grandpa crawled from under the tree, and walked away silently. Once we could hear his footsteps no longer, Bill cuddled up to me - If Grandpa walked away silently, they wouldn't have heard any footsteps.

"Goody, Goody!" Bill replied - lower case for the second 'goody'

We talked about a science fiction novel we both had earlier been reading - I might have said 'a science fiction novel we had both been reading earlier'

I didn't want to let Bill go that next morning as we said our goodbyes at the train station. I was afraid that I'd never see him again. He's the love of my life, the man of my dreams, and, although secretly, now my husband. - you have switched to present tense here. I think it should probably be past tense.

Best wishes
Judy

Hi Judy! Thank you SO MUCH! We both appreciate you stopping by to read and review this chapter, and we are so grateful for your keen eye and editing help! No matter how many times authors self-edit something, there are always spags, etc., that can be overlooked. That's why editors/reviewers are so important! We're so happy you enjoyed reading this, and we hope you will return for Chapter 12. It is in the works and coming soon.
    Have a wonderful weekend!
    God Bless,

I am honestly enthralled with each chapter. Coming to America from Ireland, as a child, I held a deep connection with Native American Indians, because they like the Celts were close to nature and the spirit world. what I have read and seen in some movies is the difficulty Indians had while serving in the military was daunting. Your chapter held the tension and the deep concern that surely was the case. Thank you this interesting work.

Thank you Bill and Cathy.

Though I'm of conservative values, my pattern has long been to progress in progressive thought and faith. In fact, in my college major, of a Social Science Area, I read physics greedly, as extra curricular. Along with guidance counselor and faculty advisor, I was placed in that major. I don't think it as an accident I was on the right track for both sacred And secular education. I understood my seasoned Bible study more than ever through learning of the Space Time Continuum, the Electronic Sprectum, and the Fourth Dimension.
Yes, I married before sex, but I honor earnest vows and true love making before legal marriage.

I spent my two years in the Korean campaign, after a peace, but took basic training in the heat of July and August.
Forgive my being long winded, but in my 92 years of life, I testify that my wandering course now comes together to open my vision to write books in both sacred and secular truth.

Don Cassidy.

This chapter tells a beautiful story of many young couples where one had to leave the other behind to go serve his or her country. What if the girl becomes pregnant and the boy has gone on to meet his maker or has changed his mind having met someone else? Therefore I think marriage is best for all concerned.
Best
Sylvia

This is kind of like fiction and non-fiction, because it helps show what might have happened if two people were restricted by anti-miscegenation laws from marrying, due to one being Native American and one being Irish. I think it has a conversational feel, as if it really happened like that. Not sure what to improve on really.

Provo, on a very heartwarming chapter. I like grandpa and his way of thinking. The dialogue was easy to read and kept a good pass. A well-done chapter.

Interesting turn of events - and advice from Grandpa. Many service men and their gals felt this way - and acted this way as well, I'm sure. I see danger thought in this - if Bill should die, there's no way the gal would be supported - she could be pregnant, alone, and broke.
While it worked for Grandpa - it might not in this case. Just my opinion.
Well told story.
