What a flying experience arriving with a bump and check to see if the seat belts really worked! The pilot must be an award-winning guy to take his passengers with so much safety and landing most comfortably in a land of many surprises. I thought that a Sikh is Indian and that the two countries are at loggerheads with each other.
Well written,
Sylvia

Thanks, Sylvia. The Sikhs originally came from the Punjab in what is now Pakistan. Although many would have been relocated at the time of Partition in 1947, there is still a significant minority in cities such as Lahore and Islamabad.

-This is a good chapter, Tony, that sets
the stage for Charles and Helen's trip
and mission as outlined by Bamforth.
-You give good detail about the steps they
need to take, like being at the Immigration Office.
-Obviously, they have to bend the truth a bit and
say they are married, and Helen is advised to wear
clothing more suitable for the area.
-So far, everyone they meet is polite
and helpful, but I am sure that will change
as they reach their ultimate destination.
-Charles and Helen also share
a bit of banter about their "marriage."
-I'm not sure how they will continue to pull that
off because they will probably be scrutinized more closely
the closer they get to involvement in the plan.
-The ending is very intriguing!

Thanks for your comments, Pam. I imagine there is still a bit of banter to come about the 'marriage'! I also suspect that you may be right about things hotting up as they travel further north and away from the cosmopolitan cities.

This is the first time I've come across your book. I enjoyed this chapter. When I have a chance I will have to go back and read more. Your characters sound interesting!
Good job!

Thank you for translating Celsius into Fahrenheit, etc. Instruction is well taken.
They may have found a helpful guide in their driver. haha
I loved the bargaining for the cab fare. It brought realism to the scene.

I'm beginning to get the jist of it now.

A very well-written chapter, sometimes we say things under pressure that makes us wonder where it came from. It worked once at the airport and now pretenses have you be keep up.

Hi Tony,

Another great chapter.

After a short eternity, the senior official - superlative oxymoron here. lol

carlet turban and gold teeth that glinted in the sun when he smiled. I was reminded of Jaws.- Richard Kiel was always a favourite of mine. Very underrated too.

Rasheed turned on the CD player, and the gravelly tones of Louis Armstrong wafted into the ether. - more advanced than me! lol I still had a tape deck in my car until only last year.

There is a great ebb and flow to this piece, chapter to chapter but moving forward all the time. Great stuff

Thanks for the review and sixer, G. Appreciated, as always. The CD player may be a bit of an anachronism, though I don't think I've actually specified the year in which all this takes place.

This was well written and rich in Theme and Imagery.
It read well and it fllowed well with no Grammar issues as well.
...
Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned perfectly.

Really enjoyed this chapter - moved along smoothly - lots of dialog, believable events. Well done. I hope you can continue in this vein. I thought she might have to wear a head scarf? Anyway - good job.

Interesting chapter. I haven't read previous chapters but this is well written and the dialogue kept me intrigued.

Notes:

"What is the purpose of your visit?" The immigration official looked up from my passport and visa. His face was impassive.

I might have written it like this:

"What is the purpose of your visit?" The impassive faced immigration official looked up from my passport and visa.

"In your dreams!" I sidestepped to avoid the playful push.

I think this should be separated by a line space.

"In your dreams!"

I sidestepped to avoid the playful push.

That's all I found for suggestions.

All the best,
Jan

That was interesting, that Helen would need to dress in the more culturally appropriate way. Why can't they do the same when they come to our country? Hmm. So, they are having to go by train because of a terrorist 'incident', if it were me, I'd about-turn and take the next flight home!! lol. It was nice to know I'm not the only one not to fully trust Helen, Charles is very wise not to as well. Well done, another excellent chapter. :) Sandra xx
