This is so true of poets. We strive to make the most meaning out of the fewest words. Words to have a somewhat magic power to bring fun and healing. Congrats on the publishing of your book 'Under the Ginkgo Tree'
with the other talented writers from this sight.

Keep writing

Joan

....some have an uncanny ability to use fewer words to achieve the magic than others. You are in the former group. Thank you for captivating my mind. ScarAntMan xx

Your short verse about the few words of magic needed for poetry is a good entry for the 5-7-5 contest.
Nicely said and very true.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

It does seem that way sometimes, doesn't it? We can inspire, encourage, instruct, and cause one to think with our beautiful and colorful writing. I like this indian and the message conveyed. Well done and good luck in the contest.

One can only hope Indiana... One can only hope! :) We do wish for this effect don't we? I know I do! I would like to say truer words were never spoken, but I've been told my characters are lacking... I expect I'll find out soon enough! LOL

Hello Karyn,
You've written an excellent 5-7-5 poem for the contest
which demonstrates its own message:
Oh, the places words can take us.
You've echoed one of my favorite quotes from Emerson:
"Poetry teaches the enormous force of a few words."
Well done
Good luck in the contest
Robert

-I love the artwork, Karyn.
-I agree with your note.
-The syllable count is good,
and the use of one
continuous thought is effective.
-You also have a very good message.
-Words can, and do, trigger
the imagination.
-Good luck in the contest.

This 5-7-5, Power of Words, has the right set up and reminds us that getting into the readers' minds is done through both safe and searing sentences slipped through the eyes.

The song yes ,Jesus loves me, childlike, how much do you think that cross weighed? How far did he walk? I am weak but He is strong, yes Jesus loves me. Happy Easter.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

"Power of Words", is short, succinct and very much to the point. Woven through each of these words are the golden threads of truth. This is definitely a six. I look forward to seeing your next post.
