I am glad there is a happy ending for this horse. She obviously had so much to give and deserved a loving home. It is so horrible how badly some animals are treated. Excellent story.

I like this very much. I can picture the mare just nuzzling and saying help me. The Mare is not defeated, but freed. Her life has changed for the better. This very good. Very well done. Good luck in the contest.

A beautiful and inspiring story! Your notes were helpful to understand where this mare was coming from. Horses love humans and like all domestic animal respond to love.

So you used to horse around eh? Yes, horses have much to give and teach. My mare was in a terrible state when I bought her. Took me months and many vet bills to get her back to health.
Want a heatwave? We are so fed up with the weather! Love, Kay.

I do like a story with a happy ending! It's good to hear that your old mare was able to live out the remainder of her days in peace, after having had such a hard life.

Thank you my friend. She had a beautiful nature and a sense of humor. Took me ages to feed her up and lots of vet checks. I know she loved all who sat on her back, a rare horse. Blessings, Kay.

This dribble, Beautiful Mare, fulfills the word limit requirement and describes a life rescued from cruelty. Thanks for writing this.

Good job, Aussie, with your contest entry and message in your prose writing story. I enjoyed reading it. I am happy the horse found better owners that appreciated her. Thanks for sharing and caring. Best wishes. Jan

Great story, fit the contest criteria very well. Very descriptive and explanatory in such few words. I enjoyed the read and got a vocab lesson with the word flogged. nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

K this is a beautiful story. You managed to write in the character, the setting, conflict and resolution in a mere 50 words which I know is not an easy thing to do.

Fantastic and I wish you great luck with the contest committee.

Hello Sweetie-Pie, How's the frost down on the pumpkin? I needed to write about Lassie, she was a blithe spirit that had to be set free. I fed her up, loved her dearly, she in return gave me a new life with her companion horses. She never missed a beat. I rode her in an endurance ride (in the rain) we even got a medal that day. The little crippled girl that adored her; finally took her home to a property with heaps of grass and lots of love. Amen. Thanks for reading. Blessings, K.

K, it always saddens and infuriates me when I see or learn of animal cruelty - or child cruelty for that matter. My daughter's favourite book growing up was Black Beauty. I enjoyed this Dribble Flash Fiction story entry. A happy ending for horse and new owner. ~DD

Hello DD, Thanks so much for your kind review. We have to protect animals, they are like children; most vulnerable. Love Kay.
