This is an excellent poem about appreciating what you have around you and it's worth. People these days have too much going on to stop and smell the Rose's. Thank you for reminding us to cherish the little things in life. Best of luck to you in the contest.

This poem presents a philosophy we should all adopt. You are so right, life is so simple when we break it down. Most complications we experience are brought on by complexities we introduce ourselves.
I loved the rhyme and flow here. And the message was superb.

Thank you so much. I try to think 'just how important is this in the grand scheme of things.' It keeps me happy. 8-) I appreciate this wonderful review.

I love your last two lines. Yes, we often overlook the simple things in life. But then again, we may have to learn how to do that, especially with what technology bombards us with

A baby's laugh, an old friend met, an unexpected smile
exemplify the simple things that make a day worthwhile.

You have some good assonances in your rhyming poem. Well done.

Your poem has such an uplifting and positive message. It is so refreshing to read a poem that suggests we push the negative things away and embrace all the things that can make life wonderful. I really enjoyed reading.

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. There's too much focus on the sad, bad things. it's much more pleasant to look for the good.

Hello Yvonne,
What a wonderful poem for the contest "I Can't"
Beautiful written in the rarely seen heptameter
of fourteen syllables with smooth meter and outstanding rhymes
But it is the message with excellent imagery that stands out
Very well done
Best wishes in the contest
I wish I had a six left for this deserving poem
Robert

-Very nice image and presentation.
-A well penned poem for the contest.
-Effective imagery, rhyme, and message.
-I like how you divide the poem in
two sections-the first about not
understanding why there isn't
more joy in the world.
-In the second, the heart is lifted
to experience "the simple things
that make a day worthwhile."
-Good luck in the contest.

I admired your interpretation of the prompt and reminder to focus on the "joyousness" in life. Your artwork selection and your rhymes reinforce the message. Best wishes in the competition- Joan

HELLO DAMOMMY: I like your work here. It brings to my mind a passage that I've read in our Holy Bible: "But God Commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." ROMANS 5 : 8. Keep writing, Damommy. People have need to read, and understand your message here. God bless you and yours. Cordially: rhonnie69.

A home run, Yvonne! There's not a word I would change.
I can't consider the possibility that your tour de force won't be in contention for the big prize.
Good luck!

Hi, Yvonne,

Yes. You are so right. We can allow ourselves to grow disillusioned by seeing only the bad in this world. There are so many things to appreciate and be thankful for - especially the laugh of a child,
