Being "Strayan" I am most familiar with strine.

A melancholy and sentimental poem. You have your memories. The drive along the dinosaur discovery route out to Winton is fantastic. So much history.

You could take the train on a trip across the Nullarbor. That would be an adventure.

A lament at not being able to drive but also a poem that clearly brought back happy memories.

Thanks. We did drive across to WA via some diversions in between. Then we brought the car back on the Indian Pacific.

Sis, I am not missing driving. It was a sad time earlier but road rage and fuel prices have made me glad I don't drive no more. Thanks for the lovely review. 17 of them to look at this morning THEN reviewing you and Ulla later!

This poem, A sad Parting, lets the readers know that giving up driving was not something that brought any joy at all. Still, a new way of doing things can always be adapted to eventually.

It was not a joyful thing but I had lost my license due to medical reasons and road rage was getting worse and fuel prices rising, way back then. Thanks for the lovely review.

I can imagine how this would be hard to say goodbye to a part of your life that has brought you great joy. I know I would cry if I have to give up driving altought I'm not traveling far these day. A car become almost like a member of the family. Nicely written poem.

Thanks Beth. It was hard initially but the road rage was getting worse and fuel prices even way back then, increasing! only occasionally I miss having the car. The guy that bought it off us got a real bargain!

Hi Geoff, yes I do remember when you and Louise had to give up the car. I read it in one of your other travel stories, but I never came across this poem. I'm glad that I did now. It's very well written, and I can understand why it was a sad farewell to a car that had taken you so many places. Ulla:)))

I also like the commentary below tells us the process you went through appreciate all of it and struck a chord within me about the glories of getting older not. You I'm getting up there myself and so I can appreciate all the things you've written. When I find it aesthetically pleasing with no issues with spelling or punctuation or any grammatical things at all. It's all suggestion if I may if to increase the font soul. The people can't read it better other than that though not you know this is perfection. It's literary perfection ah I get very much I hope you have a great evening!

Thanks Dolly so sorry I have not been by your stuff in a while. We neither of us drive now. If we could have got Louise in and out of the car she still could drive with hand controls but alas not able. I don't mind not driving for reasons I mentioned elsewhere. Road Rage and Rising fuel costs. Had some issues here with depression and falls and cancer treatment etc.
