This twenty-syllable poem, Memories, brings back the written letter (What's that?) and the sensitivity to push a pen along to feel the words form. Nice.

Thanks a lot Bill. I think perhaps handwritten notes and letters are a thing of the past. I appreciate your review. Melissa

I miss the art of handwritten letters too. I liked being able to tuck them away, keep them and savor them over and over. The digital age feels too lacking for that much warmth. What a lovely topic and a well-written 20 syllables. Good luck!

I remember those days too. And packets of envelopes drawn together by a ribbon to be re read on another day. Somehow a text on a flash drive does not have the same appeal or the same power. Thanks for the positive memories.

Bravo, excellent. Good luck in the contest with this terrific little poem. The days of true letter writing are gone. I like to practice it, though, by occasionally writing a letter to a couple of friends who still DO write letters back. Marilyn

Writing letters, getting notes and cards, how we looked forward to getting those. I remember watching the mailman come up to the house feeling great excitement. Now it's UPS or FEDEX and it's just not the same. Good luck in the contest.

This is very nice! I love how you set up your poem, the way the words seem to just trickle at the end. And I like how you left, "unforgotten" as the last word. I think this poem brings up a sadness for those who love to read and write when they see others spending all their time on technology instead. Perhaps this poem will inspire people to choose a book over a tablet, and a pen over a keyboard. Great job!

Thanks so, so much Irish. I too really like receiving letters. I hoped the vintage artwork would help us all reminisce a little. I am honored by the six stars!

This is a very nice entry for the 20 Syllable Poem Contest. The picture you chose compliments this beautifully. I remember living away from home and savoring every letter my mother wrote me. And how I loved writing back. I almost wish I still had someone living away from me so I could write letters to them!
Very nice work - good luck in the competition.

Well if you can remember the stroke of a pen, that's something in itself. Words were the common theme between people and the stroke of a pen was slower and seemed more thoughtful. At least it seemed that way to me.
Nice job

Thanks for the great review. I remember having to pause when I was writing a letter.... thought more and was more careful in choosing my words... Not a bad thing. Thanks again.

a great poem about remembrances. like I remember when those 'big eye' children were everywhere. there was no escaping them. good luck in prompt.
