Hi Tom,
This is a well done sonnet that reminds that love lets us be colorblind and not just that no in absolutes which feed hate. Sometimes it takes time for the young to see this, I like that rhe color scheme, or lack of it, shows he negative frame of mind.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

I could not pick just want stanza to high-light as they were all equally poignant.
I noted the biblical connotations at the end which led me to reflect if the 'daughter',was Eve?
Ah, maybe I am way off.
Good read!

I really like poetry that speaks to our ancestry and how people try to cover it up or try to paint it with a different brush. Your reference to the flood washing old things away and the importance of keeping our ancestorial

the last couplet seems like a reminder that she shouldbe aware of the blood that flows through her vein..The father seems to be proud of his ancestry and would like his daughter to be like that

That is very sweet and powerful. You are but of different parts that all come together. I feel like this piece promotes understanding and acceptance.

A well written poem and a very good title,
as well as being written by father to daughter.
-Many good images and rhyme.
-A very good message in verse one
about "Rejecting need to feed the hate machines."
-It's interesting that an idea, philosophy, etc. can
be over 20 years old and still apply to the current time.
-I like your lines about the label and comparison to a fable.
-A good message in the turn and a very good closing couplet.
-Was this for your daughter and did she read it, if so?

Do you ever think we will reach a time when skin color, origin, type of faith, and income will no longer determine who is worthy or not? I still hope. Karen

Most dads are loving and protective of their daughters. My dad was not a great dad. He banished me at 15 years old .
Interesting poem. You always have a unique style.

Most father's believe it is their duty to be the forever guardian of their sweet daughters, but not all. Life dishes out all types of relationships and other than the heart, nothing else should matter.

I admitI read your poetry all the time on here... albeit I rarely completely get it, I admire and love it. Your descriptive language is sometimes beyond my comprehension... but it also inspires me to be a little more creative with mine.
This I interpret to he a Daddy watching out for snd protecting his little girl... thanks for sharing and continuing to inspire your readers.
