The following of your passages are what I never knew and would not have known about if I had not stumbled on your story and read it. I want to thank you for that. And may be I didn't simply stumble, some guiding angel took me to your story to teach me about Chilermas.

The murdering continued until Herod died.

They hold it as a religious observation.
They honor it to commemorate the children
who were murdered by Herod.
How is Holy Innocence Day closely related to Christmas Day?
Innocent babies died horrible deaths at the birth of Jesus.
They died when Jesus was born; which is now called Christmas Day.

I sure did not know about this holiday. I will not forget it now that I've read this article. It does help us to remember that so many babies were killed at the hands of Herod. Also, that we should be grateful that we do not face this sort of thing in our Country. The last thought that I had was that Jesus even died for Herod's sins. That's inspiring. A great job with a beautiful ending!

Also, that we should be grateful that we do not face this sort of thing in our Country. The last thought that I had was that Jesus even died for Herod's sins. That's inspiring. Wonderful tradition in honour of the babies slain by king Herod. To be celebrated days after Christmas connects the birth of our Saviour with every child. I like your invitation to listen to children, they are the future and on their shoulders will one day lay even greater responsibility... They need to know that God loves them deeply.

I remember hearing about the killing of the babies by King Herod to get at baby Jesus. but didn't God strike down every firstborn of the Egyptians in retaliation or justice? If we're going to tell the story, shouldn't we tell all of it? Keep writing.

Thank you for reminding us of these babies that Herod killed. What terrible and senseless slaughter, but he did not have the power to destroy Jesus. Just as nowadays, the evil around us cannot destroy love.

You are right. Little today is ever said about those precious babies that were killed as Herod sought to maintain his rule over his kingdom - jealous king that he was - having no idea that Jesus never came to set up and earthly kingdom.

Hi Rhonnie, I have never heard of childermas but, due to you I have. I know the story well from the bible. Harod ordered all boys under two to be killed That way he thought he would kill Jesus. What you wrote was well written. All the best. Ulla:))
