I enjoyed reading your personification of winter "Winter Death". You described it well and also your rhyming was spot on.
All the best in the contest.

Hi RodG, I enjoyed your winter poem and your 8 Syllable meter is spot on except line attacking follage at night ( 7 syllables) This stopped the flow for me and I reread it a few times. Other than that a good take on winter. Good luck in the writing prompt. Cheers Chrostine

I am delighted you enjoyed reading "Winter Death," Chrissy, despite the "error: in line 8. I did ponder my choice of words for quite awhile, but I love "foliage." Most people pronounce it as if it has two syllables and rhymes with "cabbage," but the word actually has THREE syllables and is pronounced foal-LEE-age. I want the reader to slow down and consider that scythe going through the fol-i-age very slowly. Rod

This is an outstanding poem. It's worded so well and flows beautifully. I'm not fond of winter either--so why am I in Wisconsin--the kids are nearby. I like the beauty, but not the cold and not the inconvenience. I wish you much luck in the contest with this fine entry. Marilyn

Thank you so much, Marilyn, for your wonderful response to "Winter Death" and generous gift of stars. Unfortunately, in the contest the voters preferred a much more positive personification of winter. Rod

This was a great piece of writing, likening winter to the 'grim reaper' was clever and you really manage to sum up the season that is winter very well.
I'm sure the room went colder as I read this.
Great job....well done.

A very well-written winter poem and personification of Mr Winter that seems to come earlier this year to breath his deadly breath over all living things to prove he is the master of death.

This is such a perfect personification of Winter! It's exactly as I see this season, too. It's been sneaking in at night with its scary scythe killing all my pretty flowers from the summer. They've gone from beautifully colored blooms to dry, crackly and brown in no time. Even though I know it's coming, it always makes me sad. This is skillfully written with very powerful and vivid imagery. An impressive piece! Well done! :)

Thank you so much, Jenna, for your wonderful praise of "Winter Death." I know others view Winter's coming more positively, but he' s ravaged my flowers and I'm not happy. Rod

I love it, I think it really hits the point with the way most of us feel of the coldness coming our way. I myself used to enjoy winter, with its own unique qualities that make it fun that only winter can offer, like; tobogganing, skiing, hot cocoa and the brightness snow brings to the landscape of gray days. Thank you for the read.

A savage killer seldom seen,
attacking foliage at night,
you show no clemency, remorse,
fatalities with every smite.
You're shrouded in your hooded cloak
outside my window this gray day,
a silent shadow in the fog.
I dread your coming, fear you'll stay...Imagine if winter lasted forever like in ICELAND?No wonder they have such a high suicide rate. Sunshine makes you feel good and is good for your brain and body creating vitamin D. This was a wonderful personification of winter and I hope you do well in the contest. Kindest regards Meia xx

Your photo is great and fits your personification of winter as you talk about it as though it were a person. Your vivid descriptions of how it destroys wildlife and vegetation is clearly stated in your literary devices used. WELL DONE! Good luck, good entry. lol liberty justice
