Thank you for sharing your description of Mamie's ghost in this short form and reinforcing it with the ethereal artwork. I appreciated your notes about the flapper, since I was not familiar with her. Sighs- Joan

Great story in your author's notes, some of these true stories are much more than the fiction ones we all come up with. Love the artwork and this eerie haiku. Well done Dean,
cheers,

A very interesting story, and doesn't sound like the right man was charged. Also a lesson in the perils of out of wedlock play! Poem was a great short description of what transpired and the satori told the end well.

Thanks for reading and catching JoAnn. You're also right in your assumption that the right man wasn't charged with the crime.
He was white, wealthy and held positions of prestige in the area.
He couldn't have possibly ... could he?
You're damn right he was guilty.
Hugs,
~Dean

Thank you Dean for this interesting information. What an overkill, pure hate in that murder. It's a shame though that it seems that they have the wrong person for this murder. Good poem

Hi Deano
This is another terrific story in haiku form. I really enjoyed it. Hey, she flirted with death when she flirted with the banker. Perhaps it was the banker's wife who killed Mamie. Perhaps it was her poor deputy husband. Then again, it might have been any one of her sexual partners. I wonder... did they find the black handyman/chauffeur guilty? And if so, did he go to prison, or did her get the death penalty? Readers want to know the rest of the story. Most interesting!
I like "lush loam". Isn't it peculiar how ghosts roam? What a way to spend eternity.
Did you ever see the movie, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", starring Don Knotts? It's one of my favorites. Here's a link:

Lovely artwork that complements your tiny poem perfectly. Thanks for the foot note, so I know what it is about. Death penalty was still going. A well written Haiku within the syllable limits. Nobody really knows who murdered this woman.

Your notes on Mamie, brings a lot of light to your haiku. I wonder who really murdered her. whats up with her deputy hubby? they say, the significant other is a usual suspect when their partner is murdered and as the detective shows say, it was a personal murder with much vengeance.
good story
lulube I can see how her ghost is still wandering the streets, looking for her murderer.

I vote the handyman was innocent. Now wither it was the banker or her husband, that I'm not sure. I need more evidence. I enjoyed reading your poem and your author's notes.

Mr. Dean-o-san,
As you know, almost all murders, with the possible exception of serial killers, are committed by someone close to the victim because of money, sex, or both. Yours is a good succinct haiku and your notes are damning. I enjoyed reading this.
