Hello GBR,
Sunflowers are fabulous. I lived near a field like the one in your photo. The enormous amount of bees on a sunny day was audible and a constant roar. I watched the shift of flowers following the sun. Incredible!

Great haiku. I've never cared for sunflower seeds myself, but this is wonderful. My sister loves them. Great picture, lovely presentation, blessings...

G'day mate.
Fantastic little piece, once again. You are the master of these, surpassed by none.
Back in the 90's, when I had money, I almost bought a sunflower farm. I love them and grew them in my own garden.
Great job.
Cheers Fez

I thought you figured out a most appropriate Satori for this one, Gypsy. Sunflowers do turn their heads to the sun to drink it up. Unfortunately here the cockatoos love to chomp into them. Giddy

Wonderfully creative. It's nice to see so much imagery packed into such a short poem. Great alliteration as well.

Oh, whee oh, whee oh--! I use to buy sunflower seeds by the five-gallon bucket. Put them in the oven and mist them with butter. Hot buttered seeds aren't too healthy, but they make me not even care. Fine poetry is nice, and even better when it drives my visions of food. Great job. :-)

Great photo, great alliteration, and a great double entendre in the satori, as the sunshine is the sunflower's snack which makes possible the sunflower seeds on which we snack (and thus the great Circle of Snacks continues, Simba).

Hi Gypsy; thank you for sharing this well structured haiku. I was finally able to understand what the 'kigo' was - your piece is about sunflowers in the warm sun of summer. The 'satori' was the warm snacks provided to the sunflowers - right?
