Hi Macsween,
First, the stuff about speed limits isn't true lol Top speeds in the US tend to be no more than 65 miles per hour. I haven't ever heard of there being no speed limit, in Montana or elsewhere here. Nice job on the random dialogue while they were checking the speeds of the cars.
Congrats on winning the dialogue contest.

Thanks for the review and kind words.
I'm from UK so don't really know anything about speed limits in the US or any state for that matter.
It's based on a joke I heard from a cop friend.
I'm glad you liked it.

Hi there,
Good piece here for the competition. Clear and no confusion despite the three speakers at times. Natural sounding dialogue.
your colleagues already asked that - need an apostrophe in there. It's abbreviated for colleague has.
All the best

Thank you for taking the time to review. Thanks for pointing out the grammar error.

Hahaha...
Well, MacSween, I believe your colloquialisms might be a tad off as it pertains to dialect in the great state of Montana...or even Wyoming for that matter, lol.
Ya see, we don't say "Mum" here in the states for "mother", although we will say "Mums the word," if we plan on keepin' a secret, heh-heh.
"Cops" are not referred to as "coppers". That's usually reserved for pennies.
We call 'em: Johnny law, Local Yokels, the Fuzz (of course, that term's pretty much passe now), or the Poe-po.
Also, there are in fact speed limits in every state in our beautiful country.
Even Montana and Wyoming, believe it or not.
Good story, though. Very funny...
Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks Dean.
Thanks for the review.
I know the dialect is a little off for the area, I've used my own British vernacular here ask don't know how someone from the area would talk.
The story is based on a joke I heard the last time I was in America. I picked Montana and Wyoming because I like the sound of those words. I've never been there, but I'd love to visit. I usually spend time in New York and Connecticut when I'm over visiting family.
I am glad you liked it and I always appreciate your advice.

A very well-written dialogue between two officers on the side of the road checking the road user's drivibg speed. When they finally catch someone exceeding the speed limit the driver thinks he is in another state.

Hmmm. Your colloquialisms don't particularly work
for Montana or Wyoming. Having said that, I like the gist of your story.
Two bored Staties shootin' the shit while timing cars.
I wonder if the opening sets the scene quickly enough. This is FS, after all.
Just my thoughts.
Peace, Lee

that is just as cute as it can be! Original and clever. a sixer in my book. When I first started reading it I didn't know what in the world it was, who was talking to whom, and then, light bulb! I started over. And started chuckling. I love the humorous banter back and forth, the cocky speeder and the simple, perfect ending. You carry it off to the end without explaining to the dummies who might not get it first try. (moi)
good for you and good sho-ow!
What IS that you are holding in the picture of your hands?

Wow. Thank you for the great review. I haven't posted since Nov 2014 and was a little apprehensive but I'm really glad you liked it.
I'm holding a baby turtle in the picture. I was on vacation in Sri Lanka with my wife and we visited taken in a turtle sanctuary. That little guy was ready for release into the wild and the staff let us transfer them to a holding tank for release later that night when it was dark.
Thanks again for the review.
