Ha, I suspected this form had something to do with the brilliant Sappho ... clever moi?? :)
A clever, compelling piece, Tom. And you continue to educate me ...
I've been away for far too long, it seems. Happy New Year. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Comment from Preston McWhorter
Hi, Treischel,
This poem leaves me rather cold perhaps because poppycock is not a word I use. I agree that the election has been about nonsense. I am afraid that Mr. Trump will be making our realities for us, Not a pleasant thought. Ms. Clinton is not much better
You used an unusual poetic form which came off very well.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

Thank you for giving us a fine example of the Sapphonic form as you dabble in politics. I liked your started with famous FDR quote, and I agree that we make our own reality. Five days and counting... -Joan

Dear Tom, powerful sentiment here and as always your work is polished and smooth as silk to read. It's a barrel of bad apples to be sure...time will tell.
thanks for sharing my friend.

Hi, I've been gone forever. Yes I have great fear over this election. Well said and well done. I've already voted so hope for the best, and do a lot of praying. =}

Comment from Nottoway
An excellent commentary on this year's presidential campaign. Since 1968, I have really loved to follow the campaigns with great interest and have always learned a lot. This year however, I have been saddened by the negativity generated and the general lack of substance. There are very few substantive or clear plans put forth, only sound bites.
And I fear that no matter who wins or losed, I believe there will be general unrest for a while.
But, we will manage. America is still full of more good than bad.

And once again, i say...the master of forms. Well, I am looking at the poem for without you telling me how it is built would never had known.
Humorous with a lot of truth, to say the least.
Always enjoy the different takes of your writes as they usually have much to do with human nature.
My best wishes.

And when they count the votes what will they find?
The last trump sounding ghastly, out of tune,
or will hilarity laugh off all crime?
Is anyone of you over the moon?
Carol will, regardless of the vote, be pleased with this.

So true, we can only cast our vote and then let God be the final decider and as we cast the vote we may have some fear. But, what is a life without some fear? Patricia

Tom,
I have seen this form done several times now and like it. I may have to try it myself before it's all said and done. Your poem seems to not only be in perfect form, but it's also timely and SO TRUE. *smile* I enjoyed!
