Hi Treischel. I like this type of poetry (content). Nicely composed Rispetto with good rhyming. I see you lived in St. James, L.I. I lived in Baldwin (next to Rockville Centre) for 30 years. Now I'm in Wisconsin by way of Tennessee and California. Full circle. Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn. You certainly have been around. You must have lead a very interesting life.

Yes, I have done a lot. Enjoyed every bit of it, too. Marilyn
Comment from Pantygynt
I know just what you mean. Our busiest motorway, as we call them is the M25 or London Orbital as it is sometimes called. If you're unlucky it doesn't move at all and if you're lucky it is a 70m.p.h traffic jam -- terrifying. This little rispetto captures that hemmed in frantic feeling well.

Thank you Pantygynt, yes I like that 70 MPH traffic jam description.

It is in common use here for that particular stretch of road.

What an intriguing title--I always marvel at how our survival instincts spare us many accidents, but I never likened our actions to a dance. I enjoyed your rhyme scheme and rhythm. I'm sure you'll soon find one of your own photos captures the choreography. Cheers- Joan

Thanks Joan. I am sure of it.
Comment from Nottoway
Nicely done! You truly captured what it is like on the daily commute. And there is always that one dancer (driver) who takes too much of the floor to carry on their wild gyrations (drivers who race to spots to cut in). Humorous yet profound look the craziness of the roads.

Thank you Nottoway. I sensed that you could feel it. Yup, there's always a few troublemakers.
Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
I HATE traffic. People are so rude & in such a hurry.
Your poem is in good form & was a joy to read. It all sounds great on the page, but out on the highway, LOOK OUT!
Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Tom,
You are absolutely right! We all expect the other drivers to do what they're supposed to do. And IF they do, the dance IS a lovely one - with all the partners in their pretty 'clothes' staying nice and clean and pirouetting sweetly around each other. But just let ONE individual cause an issue and it upsets the whole apple cart! *smile*
Great idea for a poem. Nice execution!

So true! It is a wonder how there aren't more wrecks on the highways. They seem like they're dancing, with all the twists and turns. But it's more like a fight for survival in the end! Very interesting subject put into poetry. Well done.

A very well-written Rispetto. The people living in the cities are used to that madness driving there is a nightmare for me, my nerves are totally wrecked.

i agree, with heavy traffic going 60 MPH it is amazing there are not more accidents.
When I first moved here to Las Cruces, the traffic was rather light after leaving CA, but as the city has grown we are now having traffic problems. Patricia

Thank you Patricia. Driving in CA is really amnazing, with much more traffic and many lanes.

That is why I don't live in a big city and hate driving in cities. I dance better on my feet than I do in a car through traffic:)
