Congratulations on placing with this charming poem, Teresa - what a delight to read! So now you have grand-babies...sigh... you are truly blessed, my friend. Is that a picture of them? They are adorable!

Your poem is absolutely darling. As I read it, I thought of my two da.ugh terse when they were babies and now my 5 gran babies. The joy of holding them, smelling them, listening them. You did a great job. Thank u for sharing.

Teresa,
I really enjoyed reading your love poem entry
about your twin grandsons. What an absolutely
adorable photo of them. I'm glad you repeated
your first stanza in the end because it really is
special.
They really do grow up fast. Best wishes in
the contest.

Awww...so sweet. I love your descriptive details in the first and last stanza...worth repeating. Don't blink...they will be teenagers before you know it!

What came to my mind first was the poem 'Tiger' by William Blake. It has an opening and ending more or less similar to My Babies. You've in a very simple and funny way elucidated the 7 stages ( as they call it). Yes, it is always a pleasure to be young and innocent. And how we love to be with them!

Nicely written. My children are growing so fast. I'll cherish every moment while it lasts.
They too will grow up and wish and reminisce youth.
Thank you for posting. ..

What beautiful boys. Then they have to grow up. LOL
I love the circular movement of this. It's so exciting to follow the physical and spiritual growth of little ones. Terrifying to see the innocence washed away.

An excellent entry for the love poem contest
It's easy to see and hear why you would
love them so, and then all over again,
as history repeats, as it so often does
Six years old now, time for all those schools
of dance and sport, and another stage
Very nice free verse poetry
with the internal rhythm of the form
Perfect picture to match poem
Very well done
Best wishes in the contest

-Adorable twins.
-Nicely written poem about them
with good images and progression of ideas:
first words, then toddlers, and school.
-I could be wrong, but I get the feeling
the first part is about your own children
because you mention "empty nest" "and history repeats."
-That is when the twins came into your life.
-Good poem; good luck in the contest.
