Good Job on your octogram Mikey.
Your syllable count is spot on
and the rhyme very good. I would say
it is a good entry for the contest.
Well done! Good luck. Nancy

Hi Mikey,
Your octogram is wonderfully written in true octogram form, rhyme and meter. The first two lines took me to similar scenes, I've experienced, when I felt the same way. I'd rather not be there, but since I am, and no one seems to want to outside their chosen group, I'll wander off with solitude, a place I'm comfortable just being. My favorite lines are" It isn't hatred; love's my pledge, I just find crowds put me on edge". I really enjoyed reading and reviewing your poem this morning. I believe that Sally would be very pleased to see her invention written so well...
All the best, Rodger

PS
Another member invented a form, some years ago, that you may want to consider for your challenge group. I will send you a PM with the information.

Sally left quite the legacy with this form. We all grumbled quite a bit until we started seeing the results. This really is a great form. Some amazing pieces yours included. I'm just delighted you found this to your liking. So pleased you could join us. Hope you make it a habit. We're just so cool, we're hard to resist. LOL mikey

Bet you must hate Christmas shopping and the crowds?lol
Nicely done as sometimes solitude works for me.
Finally woke up enough to read all the entries for the challenge...absolutely wonderful gathering.

YEEEEEEES! I'm a total loner. LOL
I do well in a crowd and I'm actually the life of the party. BUT I'd just as soon be alone or alone with "her". WHOOO HOOO.
    Thanks a bunch. mikey

Hi There, I related to your poem.
One particular New Year's Eve comes to my mind. My husband was working snow and ice removal, kids were in bed, and I just sat and listened to music. I've been to many parties with crowds but the details of just being alone with me and my thoughts on New year's is probably the most memorable.

    Hi, Rubylou
I'm guessing that this is a natural thing for us artists and probably looks a little strange to people who know us. I guess we seem outgoing with our need to be heard. But we need that peace to do what we do, yes? We're sooooo complicated and cool. LOL mikey

A well-written Octogram. I agree totally with you. New year celebrations in huge crowds can go very wrong. With my children and grand kids at home is crowdy enough for me. No one tries dangerous stunts that a jolly group.

New Year's especially can get really loud. I imagine it's pretty hard for those grand kids to get under your skin. LOL mikey

Great octogram of your New Year's Eve - in solitude - You've used your repeating line very well with this one mikey and I know my husband would totally agree with you - the noise and strife left far away - I love the artwork you've used, loved the read,
cheers,

Thanks so much. I like this form although I still need the chart in front of me to refer to. LOL
Yep, for all the noise I make, I do like to be alone. mikey

There are many quotes about crowds(all those heads, no brain) that
back up your feeling. Looks like an excellent octogram to me, with my questionable credentials...

I still need the chart there to go back and forth with. I still like the form though, the end result seems good. It seems good actually even when I get it wrong. mikey

Hi, Mikey

= Sometimes solitude is indeed the greatest.
= Let the outside world cease to exist!

It isn't hatred; love's my pledge.
I just find crowds put me on edge.
I know I'll best embrace my moods

with solitude ...

Running isn't good for you. It's similar to exercise and that's been proven to be a hindrance to drinking and an impediment though not a complete block to love making.
We artists like this solitude stuff and melancholy and things like reflecting and caring and stuff. Oh ... and angst, whooooo hooooo, angst is some bitchen stuff to get a hold of too. Don't let this crap get to you. So ninety percent of the people are assholes. At least the other ten percent have assholes. That's a great thing. Okay, things to ponder in solitude. mikey

Another outstanding composition Maestro...-smile-
the sound of silence is extremely beautiful recorded by both you and Paul Garfunkel...ah ...I mean Simon. how did you write this in ten seconds...I'm curious...and mildly jealous. one day I hope to high noon you. lol...big love. Michael

It was twelve seconds, I exaggerated. :))
Paul Simon is my actual cousin. One of the few people I'm taller than. I can be high nooned but I learned from Ali how to talk people out of it. LOL We all nailed this somehow. Great fun mikey

lol....ahaha. is he cool though...? or does he treat everyone like Garfunkel. haha

He treats 'em like Garfunkel. LOL
Look at all the talent we have, Michael.
Yet, we're still humble. What's with that dude. He's not even good looking! :))
reply by reconciled on 08-Jun-2016
well he was better looking than Garfunkel...lets face it.
I don't know Bro...after Bridge over troubled water went platinum...he started walking on stilts man. Apparently he likes it up there...-shouldershrug-
