My best friend lives in an old farmhouse. It's over a hundred years old. The roof leaks, the walls aren't true. They have a wood burning stove. Tiny rooms that weave around but it's charming. You painted a very vivid picture of your beloved farmhouse. I'm sorry you had to leave it, but your safety is more important. Great writing. Gretchen

I can feel the sadness in your heart through the words of your poem. Clearly evident from the last stanza, where no price is worth the memories it provides.

Your love for the old house comes through. It wasn't just the materials that it was made of that made it precious. In fact, it is falling down. But it is hard to give up on it because it isn't just a structure; it's a home. And the love it holds is too hard to leave.

Love your words! I have a house similar to yours but I remain here because of the memories and spirit my house has. I love how you describe your house, a home that is deserving of a poem. Nothing less than a six.

This poem is delightful, Jay. My kids are on my hubby and me right now about getting a 'better house'. But they don't understand the memories that are locked inside these walls... I'm sure one day we'll also be forced to leave our home, but I hate the thought. However, your poem is exceptional and I LOVE it. :)
