This is just wonderful. I think the parents would find it enthralling too. It just flows seamlessly as you meet and fall in love with that little kingdom, their fun lives and adventures. I like the line where they were --"holding a meeting" very cute. I think this would make a fantastic, timeless book for kids. Are you planning to publish? Bravo, this was a whimsical read that would never get old, cheers, judester

Thanks, Jude.
I always try to slip in a couple of extra little jokes just for the parents who may end up reading the story to their little ones.

I absolutely love this story! The rhythm and the ease of understanding is enjoyable. I'm not easily amused but this author has been a great joy.

A well told children's story of "How to Tame Your Dragon." I like the choise of rhymes and made up words for some of the rhymes. You use a lot of alliteration and consonance and some good metaphors. It is long but very fast reading.
Congratulations for placing in the contest.

What a wonderful story in a poem - the children will absolutely love it, and their parents will enjoy the read and its smooth, lyrical rhyme and meter - stories and poems about dragons are always popular - congratulations...

This is such a clever little story, Steve! It is very visual, which makes it an ideal tale to read aloud to young children. The story is cute and beautifully written with language that appreciates the intelligence of children and their ability to understand new words in context. It is a tale adults can enjoy and appreciate as well. You should definitely publish these clever stories. I loved this one.

Thanks, Adonna.
I am getting lots of encouragement to get these published. I did try last year, but only with one publisher... Time to try again, perhaps when the series is finished off. I'm thinking a glittering royal wedding would be the way to go!

Dear Kiwist,
How to keep the dragon happy. For if he awakes and goes on a terror people will surely depart and scatter. Excellent rhyming in this fun poem, and the dragon ends it all by belching out loud.
Warm regards,
Winslow

Thanks, Susan. I appreciate the enthusiastic response.
No, not really published, although a few poems have appeared here and there. Actually, I am relatively new to the writing game. I would like to get the Gobbedegooks poems published one day. I have quite a clear vision of a series of picture books with quirky and detailed illustrations. I have submitted some of them to a publisher, but they were rejected. Maybe I'll try again before too long.
I am very glad you're enjoying them.

I enjoyed this children's poem. Being a fantasy guy, I can't pass up a tale about dragons. I thought your rhyming quatrains were well done. A very entertaining piece.
Take care,
Russell

Thanks, Russell - probably not the kind of fantasy you're used to, or the kind of dragon!

Hi Steve, without a shadow of a doubt the very best story in a poem I have reviewed since the contest began.
Your writing is truly wonderful with an exceptional rhythm and flow, the rhyming is brilliant and unforced, surely the winner of this difficult competition.
