Nice description of David's insomnia. That's exactly how I feel some nights. Especially when thinking of a new love.
You pace this very well. Not too fast and not too slow. The movement from the bed to the telephone and then to the conversation intermingled with inner thoughts balanced out very well. Not choppy or uneven.
Liked how the ending came full circle with his thoughts on Laura. Can't really find anything to suggest here.
