Thank you for taking us back to your brother's lovely garden, and I salute your Bohemian spirit in creating a Haiku Sonnet. I did not know lilies are poisonous to cats, but I have neither one in my household. I particularly liked your incorporating the turn/Kiru and the "Hai". Cheers- Joan, from the Faroe Islands

A great creative form. That poem reminded me I had to water my plant. It stands waiting for my kindness. I liked these lines:
"blossom's bloom
colors any room
poisons cats"
I'm lucky I don't have cats. Well done, Tom.

Bohemian spirit, eh? lol, I think they poison dogs as well, don't they?
They make me sneeze ;)
I suppose that's to warn me not to eat them?
They are beautiful though... quite beautiful
You have such a need to write in these forms... and when
you can't find one, you'll make a new one! LOL
I like THAT the best... If I can't FIND a box I like... I"ll make my own!
and I'll bring my own crayons as well! ;)
now that's my kind of thinking.
Beautifully done... truly...

Thank you Cat. Don't eat the lilies.
Comment from Pantygynt
A clever amalgam of the literary art forms of two widely disparate cultures. Your analysis of the success or otherwise of the kiru is, I think, quite correct but I don't think it detracts from the overal quality of the piece. A degree off subtlety is welcome and appropriate in contrast to the oh so obvious "poisonous to cats".

Thank you Pantygynt. I think I may have managed to annoy both Sonnet purists, as well as the Haiku purists, with this one. The perfect definition of a compromise. I should run for office. Lol.
I do agree, that subtlety is more aesthetically pleasing. That cat line does sort of hit one over the head.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
I like this creation of you very much. It's lively and colorful. You are a brave rule breaker and invent your own haiku sonnet. Brilliant work, in my humble opinion.

I've never seen a haiku sonnet before which makes sense
since you just invented it
It looks like it was fun to write
with a challenge to maintain all the different forms
and rhymes which, of course, haiku purists will not like
It's difficult to blend since haiku by definition
does not have western poetics
but you did a fine job
Gorgeous picture to match the poem
I enjoyed reading it
Well done

Thank you rspoet. Yes, this probably upsets the Sonnet purists as well as the Haiku purists. So I guess i did it right. Nobody is happy. I should go into politics.
-
As long as you're happy, all is good. If you went into politics, you wouldn't do anything, but say "no", which is pretty much what the purists will say. I say, "don't listen to them"

I thought the effect was beautiful! Love the poisons cats line!! You'd have to be pretty preoccupied or downright depressed to look at those lilies and NOT sigh!
