G'day Shari, I almost missed this chapter and started reading the next one first but went to your portfolio and found it and I'm glad I did. Poor old girl can't take a trick, poor thing, I feel so bad for her. As far as your Aunt and sister, why do people have to be so harsh? I'll never get it.....off to the next chapter now...

A little suggestion...

"Her lips, almost blood red, had puffed up three times their (normal) size."

Cheers Fez

Good suggestion. I inserted the word. I don't get the behavior of blood relatives either. If you're going to be mean, do it to strangers.

Well, the typical nasty infighting of the average American family, eh? Never quite like the Brady Bunch is it? Good chapter, you've definitely caught all the highlights of the nasty little infighting over petty little things that so often fuel a family's hatreds. Good stuff there, Spitfire.

Thanks, husky. Unfortunately, real life doesn't have happy endings that often.

The elderly have so many falls and it can lead to further hospital and nursing home stays. The unit I work on has rugs, it seems to cushion the falls, which there are many. I feel bad that your Mom's sister is so mean. When an elderly parent is frail, it is time to get along but many families argue. Excellent flow of story and description of scenes and feelings.

Thanks, Elaine. Falls after seventy are a crises. The rugs are definitely a great idea.

Your aunt is really too much, but these things do happen and people forget the big picture of relationships, they are not just one isolated incident. but these types of situations happen in a lot of families.

I know. If we're going to be mean to people, it shouldn't be family.

Oh my, I am so caught in your family's whirlwind, which by the way seemingly does not stop spinning. Dee will never be approving of anything that is done on anyone's behalf. There is more than meets the eye here. I just can't help but think that there is deep-seated issues involving the past with Dee...childhood issues...perhaps. None-the-less, once again this is such a great read.

My aunt refused to talk about the past with my mother, so she definitely had issues she didn't want to face. Thanks for the complimentary review.

The plot just keeps getting more complicated as people seem to point fingers and get your mother to do what they want. What a difficult position to be in. How heartbreaking to know the only thing your husband asked for will be denied when he has done so much. Oh, my, what is next?

Great story line. Full of drama and suspense. I enjoyed reading it and saw nothing that needed to be changed. Very interesting read and your style of writing it easy to read. Thank you for sharing.

This whole situation just gets worse day by day. Now, a staph infection and Dee still doing everything that she can influence your mother against you and Frank. None of this family tension helps your mother heal.
Big dummy--you know you can't confide in your sister!

I find that hard way. My sister shocks me with her behavior!

Your writing is so smooth, and I cannot wait until the next paragraph. I could feel the tension. fear, anger and snootiness. I could only hope to someday write like you.
Thank you for letting me take a glimpse into your life.

Your comments on my skills mean a lot. It's good to know I get those feelings across. This is a hard write and so personal, I don't plan to publish it. Just trying to look at things from a wiser POV now that I'm in my seventies. Thank you so much for the six.

This is such a sad state of affairs. One should never go back on promises. The knight should go to the person she promised it to. Malicious words cause so much unnecessary harm. I cannot understand people who spew them out. To live in a family of love and peace is better than one filled with strife and bickering. It did not have to be like this ... ! If only she hadn't said ...

It really comes crashing down in the two chapters.
